It's not the same method whatsoever, unless you can point me to what our recruitment policy is? Or show me that our recruitment is influenced by data and analytics?

Nobody expects to have a recruitment infrastructure the size of Leeds, of course not. But we don't have anything whatsoever. Since the playoff final defeat, we have had three seasons and six transfer windows of complete garbage. Either siging past it players, mercenaries, manager's mates or players simply inferior to those they replace. That's why we've done nothing but decline. Add into the pot that the recruitment of managers is just as hap hazard and inconsistent and that's why we end up needing an annual clear out and rebuild. Theres no strategy or planning past the here and now. And that's to be expected when your recruitment is based on hoping something lands on your lap one way or another.

We're a professional football club and don't employ a scout. Not a single one. Even Parky, who had full control of transfers, had a chief scout, because he knew you had to be prepared for a transfer window and watching a few clips here and there doesn't cut it. He knew he couldn't manage that to an adequate level as well as coach the players. But we seem to think because stuart has a few mates in high places who may do him a favour, that is adequate.

 

Come on Parker is not gonna start slating the club left right and center. He does a decent job with what he gets. I like him as a journo. Honest as they come for me.

 

Actual rumours are so few and far between that's it's pointless having a dedicated thread for them. Better off having individual ones for each player.

The lack of actual rumours is why every thread of this type depends into chit chat to fill the empty space.

Well liked looking at some of the comments made by supporters at Mansfield.
Box to box mid mate, but before he joined us was a winger, played there a couple of times and was meh, but he works his socks off, not afraid of anything, goes in for any tackles, basically a tank, leaves everything on the pitch he doesn’t score much but when he does it’s good
MC Donald always got time for the fans and is a class lad to have in the dressing room.

That's a shame. Regardless of whether Vaughan stays or goes, I still think we need another forward - younger and faster and with potential and he seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Not saying we would have got him if we were in for him, as I'm sure there will be interest from quite a few clubs but it's disappointing to hear we aren't even trying.

 

Dont think I saw Dover play at Woking last season (as pretty certain it was one of the covid affected matches) so cant comment directly but they had some decent players (Kevin Lokko was a good defender, be mid 20s so right age) - players obviously have to be good enough but be very surprised if we are not seriously looking at the better prospects at this level. I recommended to the club we should look at a lad called Joe Ward when he was at Woking but I never heard back - he excelled on the wing at Peterborough last 2 seasons (had some tricks that always reminded me of Peter Beagrie )

 

I think Connolly showed more than enough for this division and his influence on games was head and shoulders above DMH. In fact I would go as far as to say he was our most influential player. He made far more of an impact thatn Cooke even. I accept that sometimes the final ball was lacking but at least he made things happen.

 

Don't get me wrong, I liked the lad; his enthusiasm was infectious and when he went on a run with his blistering pace it was exciting to watch. However, what he made up for in enthusiasm and pace, he sadly lacked in end product. In 27 games he only had 2 assists and one goal, granted it was a worldie but also a one off imo.
Would I have preferred us to have resigned Connolly instead of DMH? Yes, but we didn't and if we are going to sign another winger, I think we need better than Connolly.
