Spoke to my Aldershot contact this morning, basically his response was 'join the queue' - early 20s midfielder, mainly in holding role but an eye for goal, great engine. I am honestly not sure if he is one of the National Lge players we have shown an interest in

There was talk of interest from Leeds and Portsmouth a month or so back. Apparently Serie C side Avellino have offered him €3000 a week with a house and any food he wants paid for. He'd be a great signing, but as per what you said whoever he has his heart on going to and the best deal then he will go.

Apparently Shaqeal Coulthurst from Barnet is a wanted man, could be him? He has pace and can play striker or winger.

    As per Chislett - http://sportwitness.co.uk/hes-followed-half-england-journalist-reveals-leeds-interest-vanarama-national-league-starlet/

As per lower league hotshots (notably some of these have moved on now, or circumstances changed due to promotion to league 2)

Also Chislett is Guildford born and bred so very much a local lad down here - based on that Portsmouth could be a good shout if they are still in for him

The telegraph saying that it’s players from above either permanent or loans so it might be a while

If that is the case and the salary cap comes in on Thursday, couldn't we be at risk of losing out if these players from above are on decent money?

On the face of it, this seems quite an odd stance to take.

Any player signed now would only count as an average figure towards the salary cap, and if any of the intended targets fail to materialize we are scraping around chasing whats left. Again we are putting the eggs in one basket so to speak like various other windows.

There are literally one hundreds even thousands of players we can sign and get in yet we are focussing on one's who arent available it seems.

    Baffling

I'm not talking about loans. You said either permanent or loans.

I remember Coulthirst was at Peterborough, can't remember how much they paid for him. Didn't work and he ended up in non league.

Yes these players are probably young and it will be their first senior pro contract like Watt so they won’t be on fortune and If it’s a loan we only pay part of the wages.
Also don’t under 21s not count for salary cap purposes

I think that was in league 1, although I'm not sure. Maybe he can make the step up to league 2 after having a few seasons of regular football near the top end of the national?

Dont think I saw Dover play at Woking last season (as pretty certain it was one of the covid affected matches) so cant comment directly but they had some decent players (Kevin Lokko was a good defender, be mid 20s so right age) - players obviously have to be good enough but be very surprised if we are not seriously looking at the better prospects at this level. I recommended to the club we should look at a lad called Joe Ward when he was at Woking but I never heard back - he excelled on the wing at Peterborough last 2 seasons (had some tricks that always reminded me of Peter Beagrie )

Unless the manager has spoken to said players and clubs and knows what the cost of these loans will be, or hopefully in our case McCall rates the identified players and is prepared to wait, I would if as in past cases it's the likes Burke or Cullen ?.

I'd be surprised if any premier/championship club want to send out loanee's to the 4th division to be kicked to death...

I believe it's called "mens football" it has been quoted by the likes of Cullen & Burke in the passed, much better for the players development than games against lads of there own age.

Would be an excellent signing for them, League quality and experience and probably cheap

I would be wary about a very small Italian Club. Read this..... interesting they played in City’s colours!
