    The truth is they don't know and it is up in the air at the moment as they can't say either way.

    The unnecessary cancellation of todays football and the furore of supporters all over the country is even mentioned on the Sky News App/ Website

    The men in grey suits at all levels seem to have badly misjudged the mood that we no longer live in the Victorian era.

    Yes, however did they misjudge the levels of impatience in the current day and age?

    They should have expected grown adults to throw hissy fits because there isn't a game of football.

    I thought Professional Football was a Business, or am I missing something?

    My view is that all spectator sports should be treated equally.

    Postponement, as a ‘mark of respect’ should be across the board and not one sport singled out for different treatment.

    All or nothing.

    Watching BBC news last night many standing in the Royal Mile were not paying respect.
    They were ensuring that they got a photo or film on their phones to record the fact that they were present as the coffin passed.

    Once the faux mourning is over we will get back normality where for most of us the royal family is about as far removed from our lives as us living on Mars. All this tugging of forelocks and being subserviant toward an apparently higher class of human being is quite sickening.

    I am sure some of the ‘older members’ will recall the 1984 Miners Strike?

    At its height figures of between 4,000-8,000 police were apparently in attendance at Orgreave Pit.

    At the same time Police were present at other mines.

    Whatever your political stance, then it seems as though having all those Police, drafted in from over 10 forces, didn’t end up with Football being cancelled.

    The ability of the Police, to manage an amazing conflict and Football in 1984 was possible (without sophisticated communication systems they currently have).

    That was also a time when Football Hooligansm was at its height.

    The Funeral will take place on the Monday two days after the vast majority of fixtures have been completed.

    There are NO EFL fixtures scheduled for Sunday 18th September.

    There are four Premier League games on the Sunday, three will have finished by 4.00 pm.
    If necessary move the Chelsea V Liverpool game to a 12.00 Noon slot.

    That would allow football to go ahead (along with Rugby Union/League, Horse racing etc), and for the Nation to mourn on the Monday.

    Screaming at a funeral procession doesn't sound that peaceful.

    Peaceful to me is reading a book on a warm summer's day in the garden, or dipping my toes in the sea, or relaxing in a spa with a nice cold drink WITHOUT a shrieking idiot in my ear, but we're all different I suppose.

    My guess is because they can't trust everyone to respect said silence and some clubs won't want their names dragged through the mud due to some morons.

    I think UEFA will have forced the games to go ahead tonight. Other sports have stopped, some in the middle of rounds

    Murmurings are both Man Utd and West Ham requested postponing the game and UEFA refused. They did agree to a minute's silence, to not play all the stupid anthems & other UEFA self-congratulatory pre-game stuff and to not have to show the required ads on the ad boards but that was about it

    UEFA competition. These games will happen.
    I agree but it will be for 10 days due to the risk of anyone insulting the family.

    The comedy being pulled already from BBC highlights the line it will be.
