The Rangers game has been moved due to the Queens transportation from Edinburgh to London happening on Tuesday so the police will be needed then but can be freed up for Wednesday.

I totally agree that police will be needed in London and will be pulled from all over the country this week so I don’t think next weekend matches will happen but can not understand this weekend right down to grass roots. If policing is the issue then those matches that don’t need police could have happened, eg kids matches or Sunday league etc.

The FA, PL and EFL just need to open and explain why the decision was made and why the following decisions are made. If they give good reasons then o think people will accept it, it is the speculation. If it is purely policing say so.

The BBC are saying that it will be “reviewed on a game by game basis”, so we might be ok.

    Not necessarily.

My feeling is that we will be all in it together. One off the all off like this weekend.

That is how it should be. If police can cover it then let game go ahead and if they can't postpone it

Either way in the interests of fans and clubs these decisions need making by Tuesday at the latest

    Tuesday game is on.

It’s the weekend that could be a problem.

Have the club confirmed that? It was Friday when they called off the Saturday games, so until they confirm it I will not be holding my breath

My view is that should extend to all Sporting Events, not just football, and indeed all ‘Entertainment Venues’ (as designated by Local Authority Legislation).

    One Off, all Off.

I am sure several on here would agree that a ‘Mark of Respect” should not be limited to Football!

Didnt they say it was because they were worried some fans wouldn’t respect the minutes silence? Or was that a joke?!

As I’ve said it almost certainly went down to grassroots because of the limited time to make a level by level. Take the National league, you go from Wrexham who get nearly 10k a match down to Boreham wood who get just over 1k. In the National League North and South you have Hereford and Dulwich who get over 2K but Cruzon and Oxford around 300. While the step below that the Northern Premier - Premier has attendances similar to National League North/South but the other 3 leagues have just a single team break 1k and the rest are between 800 and 120. Deciding what leagues need policing and if they do what’s a viable level isn’t something you can decide in less than a day so a blanket postponement just makes more sense.

If it had been about a week I suspect we would have seen some lower level football allowed but don’t feel either then EFL or PL would be allowed (I don’t expect the/weds EFL games to go ahead). With your games I would guess both Mansfield and Tranmere would be borderline (and you take more than most at this level to away games I believe). The home game on Saturday you would imagine is off just because 17k is more than all but league, 12 Championship teams and 2 Premier League ones then you will surely be over then viable amount of policing needed

Could have let the kids play. Don't think any under 9s need police

The daft thing is Football is being respectful this week-end,
    Then dis-respectful midweek,
    Then respectful again next week-end.

    You couldn't make this up,
    Except they just did.

Again though they had limited time to make the decision on where the cutoff comes. And seeing as by all accounts in the EFL meeting one of the clubs started trying to arrange friendlies before being forbidden that without a blanket ban any rushed attempt to allow some under a certain level would have tried to be abused by some. I would imagine it needs time for discussions between the FA, the Leagues and the police so it could be more targeted

Again, they didn't have the time to do it on a match-by-match basis. Queensbury Celtic u7 to u16 might be fine but it's a different kettle of fish to say Man Utd u7s to u16. Maybe some of those age groups even at PL clubs might still be fine but you can just go u16's are fine when there is a difference between the levels. You also have to ensure it cant be abused which again they didn't have time to work that out

No, they haven't. All you have is Simon Stone in the Athletic saying

That's not an official announcement and the policing/security get out is pretty big
