Actually more upset than I thought I would be yesterday when I heard the news, being neither a strong pro or anti royalist. However it seems strange to me that at a time of sadness, the first things they take away are anything that might have given people a modicum of relief to ease the pain.

Cancelling sport, taking comedies off the TV etc, isn't showing respect to the Queen in my opinion, it's just saying that everyone in the countries should do nothing but mourn over the relevant period, with no light relief of any kind to give any kind of cheer.

The message actually says From 9 & 10 which could be read as until further notice.

The truth is they don't know and it is up in the air at the moment as they can't say either way.

A suspicious mind might think that the games are suspended as they they think viewing figures will be down with all the coverage.

As I said before it is sad that she has passed away she understood her duty and did it. I can't understand though why football has to stop I don't see how it is a mark if respect that matches are called off. If its about the possibility of someone offending the family there will be a minutes silence before the matches when it starts again and if someone dies something it will be reported.

As well as being a City supporter since 1961, I've been a Liverpool fan since 1965. Just went to go on the Liverpool FC official forum, only to find the message "Our forums are temporarily closed as Liverpool FC pays its respects following the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II."

So it's not only football that's being postponed for a period of mourning, but also the ability to talk about football.

Well it will be a tough call to have Man Utd V Leeds on the day before the funeral.

The statement reads it’s open to more cancellations but you could be right.

    Presuming it would seem.

The statement is open to more cancellations.

The government are to blame. They past the book on to the organisation’s to decide.

Rugby can’t afford to cancel the games but football as a hole can. Hence the difference.

The RFL are in a position where their Grand Final is 2 weeks away and they need to establish who is playing in it by having 4 games. Due to the nature of the sport and to have a period to sell tickets they need that sorting by next Saturday at the latest so their hands are tied. They would postpone games if this were a month or two back.

The EFL & Premier League have until next May to fit whichever fixtures they cancel into the schedule so they can't go this way without issue. I'm not sure they would be readily cancelling games if this were April.

Or maybe the Rugby lot don't see the point in postponing. Neither do I - I think its a nonsense tbh.

Everton could go month without match as West Ham game in doubt

Everton's match at Arsenal is already among games postponed by the Premier League following the death of Queen Elizabeth II

    * Everton already inform fans next weekend match could be cancelled.

Can't get money back but LNER have the ability to get credit voucher back to my account. I've filled in necessary forms.

    That's a fair compromise.

Fordy, I simply told you what my note from the Club said. Next game Tranmere on Tuesday, let’s not have a row. My note is clear based on what I’ve been told.

To be fair. Considering fans are not happy and other sports are going on this weekend then next weeks games should be going ahead in my view.

I expect next week's matches will come down to the availability (or not) of sufficient police to allow matches to go ahead.

It should also be noted that Liverpool are scheduled to host Ajax on Tuesday, when we are due to be at Tranmere.

Taking BBC3 and BBC4 off the air most likely came down to 2 reasons. The first being they get very few viewers as it is and a historic event like this happening would impact that further. The second is events like this even with all the preparations networks do to prepare will be all hands on deck and such a decision makes it easier to draft people in. And with iPlayer none of the content on either channel really needs the linear output, linear channels are more there to get people who either turn the channel on and just leave it or to grab random people who are scrolling through the channels, anyone who wanted to specifically watch a certain piece of content is capable of loading up iplayer
