Threaten to move in with Halifax, Huddersfield or Leeds.

Yeah, fans will moan but if the club don't arrange a better deal then it won't be in a good position.

The lease is one of the reason a new owner won't look to buy a new stadium but in an arrangement in which we have to pay for the repairs in a world which people expect quality then this agreement isn't working for us.

The stadium is looking run down and the pitch is dreadful.

    We and orthers nee
We should examine the feasibility of sharing with Huddersfield or Leeds, We may pay the same rent but the pitch and facilities are first class

    I agree.

Look, Coventry fans won't like travelling in to Birmingham but they've shown it can work.

If Gibbs wants to bend the club over with massive replay bills then stuff him. He either buys the club back, help maintain the stadium or we look at other options such as this.

Bradford Council would soon start worrying also. Oh you want to talk to us now because you won't have rugby or football in the area.. do one you useless lazy, unambitious gits.

Bradford City needs to stop acting like a charity and get tough.

The problem for years is that they play the poor card and when you do that you get your pants pulled down.

Madness. It's bad enough working in Leeds never mind spending my spare time at Elland Road. Would not be comfortable sitting in Elland road or The McAlpine every other week. Our pitch could be class if the McBurnie money was spent wisely. A relocation isn't necessary just a proper job on the pitch would do instead of bodge jobs.

Suggesting all options need looking at and discuss but it will be down to getting a better deal and I wouldn't suggest a 10 year lease either.

Gibbs will think we have nowhere else to go but we clearly do!

The current agreement doesn't work at 500k a year plus maintenance. You been to the ground recently?

Old Trafford is as dump compared to the new Spurs ground and Anfield and sooner rather than later they will have to start spending on it but they can afford too but we can't.

I would see us ground share if it meant a better pitch etc.. would move the training to the their new training ground also instead of an embarrassing school pitch.

It's gotta be a wind up. Moving to another city? Yeah cos Coventry fans have been right behind the moves to Northampton and Birmingham haven't they.

I wouldn’t disagree. However, we need to remember writing off near on 1/2 million pounds a year before we can even think about players, pitch, expansion, upgrades to the stadium and pitch. Gibb also needs to remember if we go out of business he will receive diddly, and being reasonable might well help us, but help the self as well. We continue to feel the impact of admins that happened years ago. Unless we can find investment from somewhere!

I'm sure Julian is showing Rupp what cutting corners achieves nothing, yes £1m is a lot of money (which I personally prefer spending on players) but something has to be done with regards the playing surface.
Not having a go but are the City ground staff up to the job once a new surface is layed ?.

I often smile at some of the stuff you come out with. But on this occasion I laughed aloud.

Let's put it clearly. We do not have any kind of bargaining position with the Pension Fund. We have a lease on the ground for another 8 years (not 10 years as you and somebody else has posted) and short of going into administration, there is no way to change that. IWe will have to look at other options in a few years time as the lease runs down but we are stuck with it for the time being whether we like it or not. And no threat of ground sharing in the near future is going to change the situation.

Do you remember when ML tried something similar with the PF a few years ago and threatened to move to Odsal with 'his' lighting and seating? That didn't work either at the time and I've heard nothing from you or anybody else why a similar threat should work on this occasion. Get real!

Ha glad it made you laugh. I haven't looked into our current deal but the point is the current agreement it would seem is going to prove extremely costly for the club if they don't renegotiate better.

I admire Lawn for trying something different and saying look I won't be bent over..

Do the taps even work in the toilets? Dread to think what the ladies toilets are like!

See when you 'get real' you end up losing. You need to explore things to win. Nike wouldn't be able to create trainers that help smash world records if they thought they should 'get real'.

It didn't work with the Pension Fund - related to Gibbs falling out with Rhodes, but it did work with the club shop. Lawn/Rhodes bought it back at a fraction of the original price, removing the lease payments, and then selling it on to One in a Million. Without that deal, we'd have gone into admin to get out of paying around £1m a year on combined rent.

Ha 100%.. one of the biggest companies in the world because they think out of the box.

In football terms Utd use to have that but the likes of Liverpool & City are catching them up and with us we have been overtaken by the Lincoln's of the world because it's all about no going above our station.

We've a rich owner and still find an excuse on why he shouldn't be spending his money. Couldn't make it up!

Glad McCall is back because now fans will look to things like this subject more and the owner, CEO etc.

Fair play @Fordy117@Fordy117 you've just about skated around every point @Dennis@Dennis replied to without giving an answer.
I'm not sure Mark's threat of taking the seats up to Odsal actually had the Flamingo Pension Fund quaking in their boots, didn't Mark & the Rhodes get around reducing the rent by forming another company and buying the old sports shop and then selling it on to become the "One in a Million" school/academy.
As I understand it is as Dennis has quoted we're here to stay until at least the rental agreement runs out, without doubt Gibb got a great deal for his companies pension fund but there were several offers put forward I believe two of which were a constant payment (reviewed every so many years) or a payment based on the division we were in, which at the time was affordable as we were in the Championship, unfortunatly as we slipped down the division the rent became more and more of a burden.
I'm not sure even when the rental agreement runs out it will be that easy to get the pension fund to be more accommodating, I believe any future deal has to be in the best interests of the pension fund, dropping the rent certainly wont be giving the pension fund the best return, but it will be interesting.
Using Elland Road is a non starter, and I can't see how the Huddersfiel ground could accommodate us as there are still 4 months of football and they have the Giants playing there from the start of February.
No sugar daddy coming along suggest to me we struggle on as we are and hope we develop the next Ivan Toney or another Oli McBurnie to keep when wolves from the door.

It worked well with the shop, offices etc and it allowed the club to save money on the lease payments. It was the right thing at the right time for the Messrs Lawn, Rhodes and Rhodes snr to buy the offices back through a separate company and to let the club off from the lease. Whether we'd have gone into administration at the time if the owners hadn't agreed to buy back the offices is a questionable point.

ps At the time, the combined lease was around £700k pa and not £1m pa.

Nobody making excuses for Rupp we're just saying it as most see it, he ain't interested in football and although he says he will try and right the wrongs Rahic made at our club, that is a start.
He's not a stupid man and any future investment will be done with stealth where he knows every penny invested will give him the best return on his money.

    Well you are!

Rhodes & Lawn sold to Edin and Rupp because in Lawn's words they could take the club forward. Rupp was always the one with the money and he has the money.

Fact is we have gone backwards and people like yourself saying we need a sugar daddy blah blah blah... no we don't! We just need Mr Rupp to put up and look to take the club forward like he would of said to Rhodes & Lawm in the many meetings they had.

Lawn said Rupp and Edin had money to to do things they can't and reading between the lines that meant training ground, stadium improves etc.

Mr Rupp is a shocking owner! A massive let down.. end of
