Grass is growing everywhere and has bee'n for weeks, our problem is we have none to grow, just bits that have survived. Saturday was a total disgrace for us as a professional football club and it won't do and it won't be long before the FA are on our case, can't someone tell Herr Rupp that we need a pitch for the team to play on.

Whats the tweet all about? 'A big thanks'? Are they doing it for nowt or summat? And look at the state of the pitch they are digging up, no footballs been played for weeks now and its still as threadbare as Wayne Rooneys barnet. Hopefully we get something resembling a pitch next season.

The fact that the water drained shows that the work on the drainage the other year was worth it but even in August that year there were bald patches on the grass. So yes I agree it is a priority however despite all the fine words when the budget is cut there will still be howls of discontent

The budget can be cut and spent better.. If we implement a proper recruitment policy and give the club an identity in how the want to play and sign players to fit that identity rather than the scatter gun approach we've had for years and years.

From top to bottom this needs to happen, if we can do this then the budget doesn't have to be so high in league two and league one. Yes it would be great to have an owner like for example Darragh McAnthony but for whatever reason we don't seem to ever attract those. However that doesn't mean we can't be a bit wiser when spending the money.

I can't help but think we've just wasted a fortune this year on our transfer policy

It is baffling how this pitch reputedly years ago won Division 2 pitch of the year in the past under a different groundsman

I’m no expert but I would have thought laying turf would be a better option than seeding.
Very pricey I would expect but it already has an established root system

100% agree. The drainage doesn't appear to be the problem now but laying seed instead of re-turfing when we have a pitch that struggles to get sunlight in some areas even in the height of summer, seems shortsighted to say the least.

Although the ground is not owned by the club, the lease has, as I understand it, another 10 years left. So City are very likely to be playing at VP until that expires, if not beyond. So the initial outlay, has to be measured against the long term benefit.

Most of us would want to see football played on the surface and reduce some of the long ball ‘clearances’. A better surface is likely to assist in this.

So a ‘big hit’ in the short term, but to provide attractive football, which may well be successful and likely to retain/increase the number of spectators/revenue could be viewed as a sensible option.

It's gotta be a wind up. Moving to another city? Yeah cos Coventry fans have been right behind the moves to Northampton and Birmingham haven't they.

I agree. However VP does need a significant uplift. The ground is very tired and the pitch seems to rapidly deteriorate every season. If the rent is around the mid £300K with no refurbishment by the landlord included in that figure, then perhaps it is time to look for move.
The alternative is to renegotiate the lease on a lesser figure, perhaps on the basis that the cash released, is ploughed back into stadium refurbishment, including the pitch.
The Gibbs personal pension fund, has an asset which is likely to have a longer ‘shelf life’ and as such continue to attract an annual rent, whilst additionally holding the title deeds of the land.

Are we in a position to get Gibb/ the pension fund trustees to start negotiations sooner rather than later, they seem to hold all the aces?.
I do agree with regards sharing a stadium outside Bradford, that really would be a little embarrassing for a club the size of Bradford City, God forbid mate.

Think it's about half that. But when we received £2.5m we put it straight into Rupp's pocket. I know it was for the losses he covered but youd think hed put it back into the club or we pay him back over so many years. £500k of that money would have sorted the pitch out properly for years.

If we can get sponsorship for a stand, can we not get someone to do the same for the pitch.
