    And clearly so does Michael Appleton - who decided to walk out on Lincoln.

    Appleton's known for been ambitious and not hanging around if he gets a sniff of 'trouble at mill'.

    And Lincoln's latest managerial signing hardly shouts 'wealth'.

    It's not a deal until the player signs on the dotted line. You're saying something is obviously going to happen, based on leaks / rumours. But a club cannot possible confirm anything based on that.

    Their contracts dont run out until June 30th, 6 weeks away. Club will have set them a reasonable deadline and neither will be in any rush to appease impatient fans!!!

    To be honest those stats are pointless (no offence) as he managed Premiership teams with big squads and resources.

    Always amuses me how simplistic some of our fans think it is to get deals over the line. They all are quite right, to go away have a holiday and think things through properly. After all for all, given the ages of O'Conner, Watt and Vernham, this will be their biggest career decision they make.

    Danny Rose released by Northampton, another one of those players that hasn't done great in the last couple of years, but could possibly be really good in another team that gives him chances. E.g. like the Mullins and Telford's that did well elsewhere. 28 years old, not saying he comes here, but not a bad signing for someone.

    Not a bad idea, and one I think previous managers would have gone for.

    I'm happier signing someone like Jake Young, though, as we've seen time and again that sometimes it's the players that want it more, keep themselves in better shape, and are in their athletic prime - despite having achieved nothing - that thrive at this level.

    Yeah, we can look at Nahki, but look at McKirdy this season - poor goalscoring record, but you could see he was the fittest, hungriest player on the pitch at VP this season. The lad is a Port Vale reject, but he looked something special this season (apart from his hilarious penalty miss last night).

    Matt Jay the season before; Carlos Mendes Gomes.

    Young, hungry, fit players with something to prove.
