Let's just hope we don't sign any ex players.

Especially ex players that have got nowhere near a promotion with us and give no hint that they can fire us to promotion this time.

If we're consolidating in L2 then yep. Sign Walsall's low scoring forward, or Carlisle's low scoring forward.

Alternatively, try and sign someone good

All I can see is that miss!

I would really have hoped that Hughes doesn’t buy into this former striker/bring them home bollocks.

George Miller is a league two striker, but not a league two striker who could fire us to promotion.

Could he complement Cook & Angol?

If he could start 10 and have 15 off the bench and get 7/8 goals, that could work for us?

Alan Connell didn't start that many but played his part in our last promotion.

agree with this. If Miller comes and we free up Cook wages for a new number striker great. If he comes in as well as Cook he’s still better than Lavery, Robinson, Elliot or Delfounso

After the reception a few of our fans gave him at the Preston game the other year I wouldn't blame him.

Cook will have to be paid off a years contract. How is that good business? It does the opposite of freeing up money.

Alan Connell had scored 36 goals in the last 2 seasons when we signed him.

George Miller hasn't scored 36 goals in his entire career, and he's featured over 150 times.

I agree we need a Connell, but Miller ain't a Connell

There's no real debate to be had regarding players of the ilk of Miller
If we want more of the same next season, sign him.
    I'm hoping for far more

I’d much rather us got for Macaulay Langstaff who’s just scored 28 in 39 for Gateshead in the National League North. 32 in 46 in total.

I’m hoping Gent will be well aware of him.

So if Miller is one of Mark Hughes transfer targets we don't trust his judgement, we know better, I get it we all have opinions on players but with regards transfer dealing we have to put our trust in Sparkie and his backroom guys.

Nobody said Hughes wants Miller,it's a rumour in a paper.

I don't believe Hughes will sign Miller, and don't feel I'm questioning his judgement until he confirms interest.

This is it for me. Don't think we've had a manager in my lifetime who has a more trustworthy knowledge with strikers other than Jewell. If Hughes wants Miller then I'm excited to see what he can do working with him.

As usual at this level, the usual caveats apply when signing strikers - there is no guarantee of goals with any of them. You only have to look at the most recent top scorers to see that sometimes it just takes a player to click with their club/manager.
    Dom Telford: 20/21 - 1 league goal. 21/22 - 24 league goals.
    Paul Mullin: 19/20 - 5 league goals. 20/21 - 32 league goals.
    Eoin Doyle: 18/19 - 10 league goals. 19/20 - 25 league goals.

Not sure Cook is going anywhere, unless a club come in with an offer, I'd have preferred him to be back up and come off the bench but during his time with us he's played 54 games with a goal return of 19 that's in a poor team as well as his time out injured.

Totally agree, my reply was to Petrov suggestion that “letting him go” would free up wages.

He will, rating him capable is another different question altogether.

Sounded to me like the point of your post was not to question Hughes' judgement.

But nobody is, so we're all free to carry on as normal? In which case... What WAS the point?

So you’re saying we need to target a low scoring striker and then he’ll come good-I believe this has been our model for a while
