Not true Park. East did as good a job at Crewe.

Look, I get it, you like Gilliead. I'm a bit "meh" to be honest, but we could have had Jordan Henderson or Jorghino playing for us against Donny and Crewe and it wouldn't have made much difference. What was missing was at the top end of the pitch and not in the middle. Am I making my point clearer now?

Let's be happy he didn't go to Salford or another potential rival at least based on his performances at Mansfield!

Is that him that Mansfield didn’t want again?

No need to be so facetious.

If you don't want to debate or don't have any data / facts to support your opinion then maybe don't say anything in the first place?

I love it when you disagree with me. It Invariably means my view is pretty accurate.

I'd have taken him Kevin. Apart from Smallwood he's probably better than anything else we have and also had a lack of arriving in the box and nicking goals. We could certainly use some of that.

I’m not sure Dave , I watched him several times and can see why Mansfield weren’t that keen.

Think the squad suits a 3-4-3 now. Or at least when some players come back from injury.

    Crichlow, Osudina, Platt

    Osadebe, Walker, Smallwood, Gilliead

    Pereira, Cook, Banks

Its just a goals goals goals formation!

If you're happy to wait until April when Osadebe is fit to play that formation, then you must also be happy to wait another year for the promotion push

He doesn't need to "create" he's got three skilled attacking midfielders to do that.

Puzzled by some with their 'meh' comments about central midfield. As we dominate possession, clearly we've got that area correct. It's not their fault if the three in front lack imagination at times against defensive minded teams.

And clearly Hughes sees it that way, as we can see with today's signings.

Fair enough, I'll now down to your greater knowledge Kevin. I only saw brief highlights and the game against us so I admit that I've only a very small sample size to judge.

So when the opposition have 10 behind the ball you're suggesting that it's solely down to the 4 'forward' players to create and score? Even though we're massively out numbered?

That's just daft. Clearly it's also the responsibility of both Smallwood and Gillead plus at least one full back to get higher up the pitch and join in attacking phases against teams that are sitting in.

Which often happens. It's also daft to suggest the midfield two some go backwards. On average they don't. It's even dafter to suggest that when teams have "10 behind the ball", both don't try and go forward.

We can't have it all ways. Defensive shape is vital in L2 and for the first time in years, thanks to the midfield two we have it. Put some kind of artistic flair creative player in there and suddenly we're even more vulnerable to the counterattack, have less possession and that means less chance to create.

It was the poor choices of Angol and occasionally Banks and Chapman, that meant after a bright first half we got bogged down against Crewe.

But maybe I'm old fashioned. If we're going to have a attacking four, then a team must have two more defensive minded midfielders.

There is reassurance that Gilliead can be effective – back in the deep midfield role here, his pass success rate of 93.8% and four key passes (a pass that lead to a shot on goal) was far and above his season’s average of 74.6% and 1.1 respectively. Further encouragement can be taken by Ridehalgh’s strong performances since returning f
taken from the Scunthorpe match at the end of last season it shows the difference when he plays deep
