    Co-owner Darragh MacAnthony said: “We recruited Mark to help get us promoted from League One and he helped us do just that. I want to wish him and his family all the best for his next move and thank him for all that he has done for the football club.

    “Not many players would enter into discussions about cancelling his contract with two years left on his deal, so credit to him and his advisors for getting this completed.”

    Was in talks with Bolton last month, cant see anything online as to why they failed though. Linked to Salford and Carlisle already.

    He has transfer listed last month, club want to move on from him at 33. Edwards is their main CB, few other squad ones and another good young lad coming up, Beevers would have been a random squad player at best next season at Posh, make sense for his career for him to look elsewhere.

    All their rumours are from Twitter. Their forum is full of fanciful and not so fanciful EFL insider rubbish.

    “Diamond was one of the stand-out players in the division last year. I believe he is still under contract at Sunderland. While he would be a fantastic signing, it's hard to see why it would be a good move for him or Sunderland to come to us, unless we can pay a huge sum in wages”

    Diamond reported back for training last week, along with a few other younger lads in the first team. Also had Gary Madine there, but he only just signed an extension with Blackpool so probably just a fitness thing. Football League World are saying that if Diamond leaves on loan, it will be to a L1 club.

    You only do this from both sides club/player if you expect him to get lined up with a club quickly as Posh get money back when he signs for a new club.

    Honestly? Very , very, very unlikely now we have signed Chapman. Why have two likely high wage players fighting for the same left sided spot?
