I hope your sources are right Faithful. The capture of Smallwood would be a statement of intent and could be the difference in making us a strong bet for promotion.

You watch, we will sign him, and he will either get injured in pre-season and miss most of the season, or he will not justify the much hyped talk about him and be an expensive flop!

 

Thats a good point. They may even be on holiday. Or it may even be that we've been asked to delay announcements by the parent club so they can sort an incoming deal out to appease fans. There'll be all sorts of dynamics at play when it comes to maintaining positive relations.

It'd be a massive coup though. Andrew Davies level signing I reckon.

 

Considering how few signings Pool have made, I think it's only a goalkeeper they've brought in so far, that could well be a factor.

 

Seen us linked with Matt Butcher from Accrington. Apparently, Bristol Rovers and Fleetwood in for him too.

 

Heard that one earlier in the window. Think his Pompey move fell through. Youd think we have moved on now.....

Smallwood (poss), Sutton, East, Gilliead, Odasebe......all fighting for 2 places in the middle.

 

Possibly add Songo’o into players fighting it out in the middle as well.

 

We certainly have enough options. So would seem like an odd signing now.

Unless Sutton is going to Right Back. Or Odasebe seen as a winger.

 

I think we'll use Osadebe in one of the wide forward or number 10 positions. I'm surprised we didn't see Sutton tried at RB last season. I think he's ideal for that role.

 

It just seems they've got into this rhythm (for want of a better way of saying it) of announcing one signing at a time.

Dont disagree with that. Then im thinking its Walker, Young, Chapman, Eisa and Osadebe fighting for 3 positions. With possibly Dion as well. Suppose that would be 2 for each position.

 

It'll be interesting to see who else leaves. I'd imagine we're trying to shift Threlkeld, possibly FCD and Staunton. Cook could be the other.

 

I fear it is going to be tough with a lot of out of contract players.

I can't see Threlkeld getting in the match day squad though.

 

The 3 younger lads in FCD, Staunton and Scales all need to going out on loan. They all need to be playing fairly regularly to aid their development, and I don't see that happening at City because they aren't good enough for a side aiming to be at the top end of the table.

 

Id keep Staunton if we can. Sadly not big enough for CB, quick enough for LB. Good footballer though. Maybe CM....and a loan out somewhere.

 

let them out on loan for a year. Let's see if they improve. None are fit for a starting place this year.

 

Aye, weve pulled the trigger a tad early on youth before. Not good enough yet but he is like 19/20. Needs experience then can judge.

 

We seem to let each signing have a couple of days in the spotlight before moving on to the next, even though by looking at the pitch it’s clear some were done a few weeks back. Hopefully people are right that Smallwood is done and will be announced next week.

 

I would think he is a more realistic option than Smallwood. I know we were linked with him last month
