I might be missing something but we have about 8 attacking players and the only one of those that could leave is probably Cook or maybe Eisa so in comparison to the threadbare defence we seem to have enough forward options.

If your question is actually - Can the 8 players we have score enough goals, well we'll have to see. I'm guessing Hughes thinks so or he wouldn't have signed them.

 

Rumours that Derby are after him as well. I just can't see him dropping that far

Squad rotation and resting players is his philosophy, so a nucleus of 18 players that can seamlessly slot in and out throughout a season will be required . It won’t come cheap compared to 12 first teamers and the rest squad fillers. Look what happened when MH deliberately did it at Colchester. ?

I agree with what a couple of others have said.
Assuming that Watt leaves then we need to replace him and sign a CB.

After that I don’t see anymore incomings until we’ve shifted some under contract players on. If that happens then we might look at RB and up top (Pereira / Derbyshire).

 

True but we still have 4 players vying for 1 starting shirt. Its L2, not the PL.

 

Yeah but with 5 subs allowed, they can all play every game

We need someone to play on the right (Hopefully its Pereria) An then Id say we are good in terms of attacking options.

We most certainly need another CM. A Leader. Someone who can play for 95% of the season.

That then leaves the defence. LB is covered. As is GK by the looks of things. I wouldn’t be overly concerned if we went into the season with Hendrie as first choice RB but i’d still like for us to go ahead an find someone better

That then Leaves CB. Platt will most likely be a starter, and is Canavans Replacement. Meaning we still need one for Paudie. Kelleher isn’t gonna cut it. Staunton hasn’t played regularly for over 2 years and FCD has been deployed more often at RB than CB. Yes we could Play Songo’o there but nevertheless, We need at least one more CB. Although personally Id like to see 2 come in, an have either Staunton or FCD sent out on loan

Then i’d say our squad would be complete. Along with getting Hornby an Threlkeld off the books to save wages

With all these new signings ,it could take time to know Hughes best side ,hope crowd will give him time ,can’t see us flying out the blocks first few weeks ,after Christmas hopefully we can get stronger and push for play offs

 

The managers will use the extra subs in the last few minutes to break up the game. They will use 2 substitutes during the second half, then when injury time approaches or during it will then make 3 subs which takes ages to change 3. Then when the 4th official puts up the board for 4 minutes of injury time the likes of Klopp will be waving their arms about as to why the ref hasn’t blown for time after 4 minutes,even though they probably waste 2 minutes making the 3 subs.

 

Yes, CB looks a problem area. I'm hoping we're fighting for 1 or 2 strong performers and that's why someone hasn't been announced yet.

And right back... Good grief... We haven't had a proper right back for actual seasons. People might say Hendrie but then others on here say he was a centre back at Hartlepool.

 

Not City, but always frustrates me watching tv games where there is 20 seconds left of injury time and the winning manager puts on a sub when the game is already won, reckon it's summat to do with ensuring some players get their appearance bonus and not always for legit reasons...Warnock cough...

 

Doubt we’ll sign a right back as we have 3 on the books. Hendrie, Threlkeld and Finn cousin Dawson who has only ever played right back for us. If we offload the last two we may then bring a right back in.
