Lets be honest, you dont need many marquee signings in this league anyway.

 

They've got an interesting signing in a relatively young midfielder from Aberdeen on loan. He might be a good signing. The rest seems to be classic Evans "let's get the numbers in". Rochdale done better I thought.

A retrograde step imho. A charter for timewasting managers leading by the odd goal. But yes tactics will play a big part.

 

How so? There's still only 3 substitution opportunities available in a game I assume.. Same as now. That said, I don't like the ruling. Swapping out half the outfield players during a game makes it more akin to a friendly. Plus it unfairly benefits bigger richer squads.

Yes, Which positions do you think we still need to recruit seeing the squad is now quite large?

 

I’m equally surprised at this! We are absolutely screaming out for a centre forward and a right as well as those you’ve mentioned - arguably a right sided wide man and rightback

 

I’d like to bring in another RB as well, ideally first choice as still think we can do better in the full back positions. But yes I agree in terms of numbers, I think some would like a squad of about 35. Only way I can see more in is if we get out some contracted players.

The squad isn't quite large. 10 players from last season's squad were either released or returned to their parent club after their loan spell ended. 2 players we offered deals to turned them down and we are still waiting on Watt. If he doesn't sign that's 13 gone and 9 in so far, 2 of which are goalkeeper's and 2 of which are under 21 so don't count as part of the 22 outfield players allowed. There's still plenty of room for more arrivals, particularly if a couple leave as well.

 

You can only make the 5 in a maximum of 3 intervals as before.

Plus Harratt isnt here as a squad filler and to make up the numbers. Only 1 shirt for that CF role and we have Angol, Harratt, Cook and Young currently fighting for it.

 

I’m happy we’ve built a squad early doors but the CM and CB need to be good signings to push us up.
RB needed too and we hopefully shift Threlkeld.
