Foulds did play well and is more than adequate backup - I like him and was impressed when he played. Still, Ridehalgh is very good at this level and I am not sure there is much better out there - he defends well, gets forward well and puts over a great cross.

With both Ridehalgh and Foulds in the building, I feel the left back position is the least of our worries.

No, it’s not a disgrace, it’s bad management - we are where we deserve to be.
    Thanks anyways.

Interesting post. Would you take ability over experience?

Experience doesn't always equate to ability as you have pointed out.

For example: Evans had experience. Threlkeld has experience. Robinson has experience. Lavery has experience. Delfounseo has experience. Wells lacked experience. O'Brien lacked experience. I could go on. Give me a squad that has the ability rather than the last few squads that have loads of experience but very little ability.

    Nothing to see here.

Jamie hosts an exclusive chess and cheese evening on the second Thursday of every month. Dion missed the last one due to holidays. Jamie is clearly just trying to establish numbers for July's soiree.

See it time and time again - when fans decide a certain player is bad, that's the end. Doesn't matter how they play, they played terribly.

    Without knowing the facts?

The facts are, year on year regression. A disinterested owner and a CEO that has made more mistakes in his short tenure than Mason and Baldwin put together.

Couple all that with constant contradictions (very competitive budget yet can't afford hand driers) and I'm unsure why you feel its fans trying to put down the club.

Quite the opposite I'd suggest, it's fans that are passionate and are calling out the current regimes mismanagement.

Ridehalgh is very consistent and that's more important than anything at this level. Tie him with a good wideman and he'll overlap all day for you. More important we get the two centre backs sorted.

Yet all three will more than likely be playing at a level higher than us come next season. These are the quality of player that could make a big difference under Mark Hughes tutorship, to dismiss them as simply replaceable, although true, isn't the whole story. As it stands we haven't brought anyone in yet of that calibre to replace them.

Evening, apologies for the quiet spell but lost my phone and then managed to lock myself out of the site! Have I missed anything? ;)
Now that Paudie has gone, and Watt departure imminent, it is time for the club to announce some signings of real intent. Not unhappy with the lads we have signed to date, or the players who have resigned, but have we improved what we had yet and our starting 11 from the team that beat Carlisle? Expecting a very interesting few days ahead

Just had a random message from a pal who is nothing to do with City but has an excellent source……and he says Smallwood is happening! Wow. That could be a superb signing if Genty and Hughes can pull it off. Not one to bullshit and claim to be ITK all the time on here like some, so hope my source is bang on!

Forget Wells or Delph or even Long. It all points towards ..... Wayne Rooney!

Rooney really would be a big signing... iin both senses
We're looking for a 15-20 goals striker. He's done that a few times
Having already accumulated a small fortune, his wage demands will be modest
He's connected to Hughes via Man U old boys club
He's a close(ish) neighbour of Hughes' for car sharing
He's recently left Derby probably in anticipation of the forthcoming announcement
Sparks has sweetened the deal with Derby to play a friendly at VP when the 'big' signing will be unveiled

You heard it here first. Welcome to VP Wayne ;)

I don’t know why any fan would want to keep any back, we tried that with McCall and Adams in recent seasons and McCall didn’t even get to use it! Terrible plan.

Go into the season full strength and any further additions to be made if we have a cup run or as you say pay on the gate, which was over 2,000 a game last season.

If it is Oliver, I hope some fans are not underwhelmed thinking we were getting someone totally unrealistic like Jordan Rhodes or Andy Carroll.

Oliver is of course far more realistic for us at our level, and would be a good signing in my opinion.

He wasn't 'truly awful'. You must have been watching a different game to me.
He was better than I was expecting.
In possession he was fine. He got forward a lot more than I've seen before. He struggled against Clarke a bit defensively, but he's a multi million £££ winger.
    He definitely wasn't awful.

He is third choice though and needs to move on.

Roll up, roll up. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. This year's boo-boy will be ... Lee Angol (with Oliver as 1st reserve). Get your expert opinions ready on his lack of positional sense, hamstring limitations, and, of course his laziness. And prepare to explain how you knew all of this all along and could've told Mark Hughes as much if only he'd asked you. And commiserations to Alex Gilead, who came so close to being the target of the bile and bitterness before 'actually doing ok, actually, but it's all thanks to Smallwood anyway'. There's still time Alex. It's going to be another long season. ;)
