Should killa be playing ?

Is this going to turn into one of those things where the longer a player doesn't play the better he becomes.. similar to Alan Connell in the past, and Jordan Gibson now.

 

Neither took all the awards less than 4 month ago at the POTY

 

True but he didn't really have much competition did he?

 

Fair points. Makes you wonder where he could go out on loan then. I agree there would be few if any league 1 clubs willing to pay that sort of money for a player in his mid thirties who probably won't be starting every game for them so that means it is even more unlikely any league 2 clubs would be willing to do it. Can't see a championship club coming in for him so where does that leave, Scotland?

 

At 34 and given he would rather be playing than sat in the stand, as you say how many could afford to pay some of his wages and I assume he's based local, would he want to go to Scotland, its a mess for the guy, lessons to be learnt dont f**k with Edin .

 

TBF mate, those awards should have been scrapped last season.

 

Joe Colbeck won a poty award one year.. means nothing.. winning the POTY award last year is the same as Usain Bolt winning 100m dash at a school sports day... means nothing due to the atrocious attitude of the players

 

Killa has the experience and the ability to be involved in the action. He is certainly an asset. If he is being frozen out we need at least equal and the ability to step into the Match day squad at the least. This looks like an equation that doesn't add up or make sense and could end up not being cost effective in the longer term. There are still three areas which appear to need looking into..a tough ball winning midfielder, a strong and capable LB alternative and a target man who knows how to put away his chances up front. Missing Robo also requires a possible wide replacement. Think it wise for action now to enhance us rather than hold on in anticipation.

 

Josh Cullen would be a cut above anything we have in centre mid. The fact is he isn’t going to score goals however Wright got 15+ a couple of seasons ago playing Cullen deep might allow Wright to be more effective going forwards.

 

That's what happens when you try f**k with the guy at the top. (if he has indeed upset Edin and it's not simply a contract issue)

 

Fair enough he’s not in the first team, but leaving a player of his experience out of the entire squad, let alone the bench is just bizarre.

It’s just strange and leaves the club and management open to even more unnecessary conjecture.

 

Goals conceded to games ratio is 1:1 and clean sheets to games ratio is 1:2. Statistically far from a disaster but what it doesn't tell you is the overall defensive play of the team. We have ridden our luck in both games where clean sheets have been secured but it is not centrally where we appear lacking, it's at wing back. Killa is a central defender and although it appears harsh that he's not been involved it would be difficult to drop McGowan and O'Conner right now. Had NKP still been first pick then I probably would have questioned his selection over Killa.

 

So let’s have a proper look at whether we’re missing Killa. Let’s have a look at some stats. I’ve looked at the first 4 league games from the last 10 seasons compared to this one, to see how we’re going. Main focuses are obviously the number of clean sheets and goals conceded.

Ive done a lovely table that gives a run down of each of the seasons and each of the games, but I’m not sure how to add a picture from my iPhone on here.

I won’t go through in too much detail, as the stats can be dissected in many ways, but in a nutshell:

• on average we’ve conceded 5.6 goals in the first 4 games of the 10 last seasons, compared to just 4.0 goals this season
• on average we concede in 2.6 games, compared to 2.0 games this season

Based on those, we are doing better than most seasons, although there are about 3 more seasons which are better than this current season.

Maybe something for those calling for the return of Killa to think about.

 

We have a different goalie though and most around Killa last season, are no more in our defense.

 

Apart from the reminders on social media I'm already treating the situation as if he's already gone.
Would be a shame if he's not playing elsewhere after this Friday's loan deadline.
Killa won't be ready to hang up his boots just yet and if we are unwilling to involve him then our loss would surely be someone else's gain.
Hope he gets fixed up elsewhere.

 

Kilgallon in on today’s showing. Back four needs a real leader

 

Today's team selection mainly in defense was IMO a total joke, what would have happened if either CD had gone off injured we had no one on the bench who could play CD, no one knows the situation with regards Kilgallon but to risk not having a CD on the bench is crazy, if NKP was not fit you have to promote Kilgallon to the bench at least, I'd have liked Jason to make that point in his post match interview, how can we have a player with Kilgallons experience not on the bench when we assume NKP is injured.

 

I agree. We keep a clean sheet and back 4 changes again? Baffling
