Should killa be playing ?

I can't see us loaning him out to a fellow leagueone side (not Edins policy) so I would very much doubt if he did go to a league two club they would be paying anything like his wages, as he was I would suggest one of our higher earners.

 

McGowan didn't play until the Southend game (I think, I've been away) but if he was on the bench then maybe it was because they were maybe going to give him game time (last 20 minutes) and have him involved in the squad as he was always going to be a starter once fit.

I think it is because of a contract issue, but the facts remain that he isn't as good as the 2 that started last night so purely on footballing issues he would for me make the bench.

 

Plus if hes on the bench he would be an expensive bench option. I expect someone to sign him on loan as first choice, then we immediately get a youngster in on loan in his place

 

I think when both O'Connor and McGowan are up to speed they will definatly be the two starters no disagrement from me, but McGowan was on the bench against Shrewsbury ( Knight-Percival) started, so even given your giving him 20 minute comment we both agree Matt should have started before KP.

But if we sent him out on loan, if possible, we could cover part of his wages like clubs do when we loan players off them. It would save us some of his wage. That is why I Think there is more to it than the allusive clause, not that I believe it exists as in theory he should have hit 50 last season. Didn’t he get a new deal last year?

 

It was more that we could have got into play offs so would have hit 50 anyway

 

He was given the new deal in October last year, so he was already a regular for the season. By that point he had already played 20 games so it would be a strange deal to offer him a massive pay rise if he kept his place in the team.

He had best part of two seasons to get 30 games in, if the 50 league game trigger is to believed. He was obviously going to get there

I can only think they want him off the payroll to enable us to bring in others. He isn’t in their plans. He’s not been selected all season. It’s plain to see but we have this BS smokescreen going on. If that’s the case they would have far more credibility just saying so.

 

Maybe it will depend on what another league 1 club would be willing to pay towards his wages. I get what you are saying about it not being Edin's policy but it didn't stop him selling our best player to a league 1 rival.... if the price is right and all that....

 

And if nobody is wiling to pay his wages and take him on loan, what then?

 

Killa is a good bloke and a good player pity he has been frozen out for whatever reason. But for both parties it would be better for him to go out on loan

My point was more that many league two clubs would not be in a position to pay maybe 50% of his present wages at Bradford City, I don't know what Matt is on but would not be surprised if it was £3k+ a week.
I'm not sure using Charlie Wyke as an example is a good comparison mate, he had less than 12 months on his contract to run and I'm sure Edin and Co knew if we sold him he would bring a good profit into the club, and I think it was another one out of the club that may have been involved with our collapse of form from around the New Year.
