Looks like a better deal doesn't it. Save £130 or save £80?

But its not. I know how marketing works but the tickets are never worth £299. I guarantee you the deadline sales would not change one little bit if the after deadline price was £249, you would still get exactly the same uptake. But you have more chance of shifting after deadline tickets at £249 than you have at £299.

The £299 also allows them to sell match day at £20/£25 a time too, thus getting extra cash off away fans.

How does that work? If the £299 was cheaper would we only be able to charge a lesser amount to away fans?

It would be harder to justify when a complaint went in from the away fans, which it would. How do you justify £25 a game but selling full price season tickets at £229. Currently you get the ticket, at £299, with 11 games free. If it was £229 that would be over half price.

Is there a ruling though? Is it stipulated in the rules somewhere? I know we can't charge away fans more than home fans if memory serves. Thing is, if you're saying its hard to justify selling tickets at £25 a pop at £229 full price season tickets, how can we justify £25 at £169? Lets make the full price £359 then, then we can really justify £25 match day prices?

It isn't stipulated in the rules but teams can put in complaints about pricing structures and those structures have to be agreed with the league before the season starts. What advice they are given by the league I do not know but it would explain the high 'real' price.

Agree - that is how I feel too. I will happily pay £199.

Looking at the poll above, there are 16 fans that haven’t yet renewed. That is almost 12% of this poll alone. Perhaps they would like to share reasons as to why they have yet to renew and whether they intend to or not.

This isn’t a witch-hunt as to why they haven’t renewed and nobody should question their reasons, but it may add valuable insight into the debate if we knew why they weren’t renewing

88% on here that took part in the poll have renewed, which is quite good, given the turbulent few months we have endured. If 88% of the 19000 season ticket holders were to renew, which was always going to be doubtful, that would be over 16500 for next season, which would be good.
Anybody have any up to date figure on the number sold so far?

I guess another question could have been added to the options in the poll.

‘Do not have a Season Ticket now, but intend to buy one next season’?

Perhaps not many takers on here, but there will always be some people who may want to have a Season Ticket for the first time. For instance young people, or those who through work/family reasons could not take advantage previously.

Really? The only comparison specified by the EFL is that match day prices are the same for home fans and away fans for similar standards of seating. If home fans are charged £25 say for covered seating purchased on the day then away fans cannot be charged say £30 for similar covered seating purchased on the day and nor can they be charged £25 for uncovered standing. These comparisons are unconnected to how clubs price their STs.

I did say it wasn’t listed in the rules but I also said all pricing has to be signed off by the league at the start of the season. We don’t know what advise is given to clubs regarding price comparison between season ticket and day prices. It can not just be coincidence that all the clubs that have cheap deals have a normal price as well that sits around the same as other clubs. If there was no need why would they bother?

There is no substance to that comment whatsoever. It's a myth. Have you ever looked at the prices some Championship clubs charge away fans at certain games? They are phenomenal and higher than some PL clubs charge.

And how do they compare to their home fans and how does that compare to the season ticket price.

Rule 34.2.5 says that every club has got to send their pricing plan into the league by 30th June.

If it was just so the league could then forward them on why not just get every club so send them out to the clubs in their division ?

For the simple reason that the EFL co-ordinates the distribution of every club's pricing structure only after every club has submitted it.

Despite going into enormous detail throughout the EFL's rules, nowhere does it refer to the EFL having to either approve the detail of what each club charges or what action it can take if the EFL doesn't like the club's plans.

So if there is nothing stopping them why does every club with a really cheap offer still have a standard price a lot higher?
