Apologies for bumping the thread, a Palace fan here, I played with Sean for our local non league side before he got scouted by Palace so have always kept an eye on his career and just noticed he had signed for you guys.

I should think at League one level he will really set the place alight, most Palace fans didn't want to see him sold to Huddersfield all those years ago but he was the only valuable asset we could let go of when we needed major reinforcements.

He broke through around the same time as Zaha and Jonny Williams and for a season we had 3 attacking youth academy players playing and for most fans that is the dream.

Sean is a lovely guy and a credit to footballers, when he broke through into the Palace first team he used to walk home from the ground as he couldn't drive and he'd pass every pub on the high street and spend time with everyone game after game. He did even at his age did loads in the community and was a real asset to the club.

He is quick, strong and good on the ball, I always wanted to see him nurtured as a striker at Palace and they were beefing him up to do that but when we signed Glen Murray he was shipped out to the wing again. I really thought if he stayed at Palace he would still be in our squad now as he had that much raw potential but our club accelerated up the league faster than our lads had a chance to develop.

I've joined up mainly to keep an eye on how he gets on, you should have a real player on your hands and I hope a decent full season under his belt he will be back to playing his best.

Terrier here again, posted Yesterday about Jack Payne.... Last night I noticed a fellow town fan going on about he knew someone who told him about Payne and also the potential move of Scannell to you boys!
I did not think it had any legs but by the looks of it, it seems true.
Scans has been a favourite down the years at town and has bags of talent. If he does join you then if fit and played on the right wing he could be a good signing! I always thought he could do a job down the middle as he is quite quick and tricky. Hope it turns out well for him as he is also a great guy also.

 

Town fan here. My brief opinion for what it is worth.

If you can keep him free of injury then he could be very interesting next season. Up until our unlikely rise, he was one of our better players and the one who could make things happen. He’s the only winger I have ever known who, if he can’t get past a group of defenders by skill and pace (Which he has a fair bit of both to be fair), then he will literally plough through the middle of them all just through pure brute strength, and invariably come out with the ball at the other end. A couple of the goals he’s scored he’s almost gone though entire team’s first (Leicester away was one)

Anyway, all in all he’s been a great player for us over the years, and hopefully he’s still got a far bit left in the tank yet. Good luck

 

Huddersfield fan here.

Scannell is our longest serving player (signed in summer of 2012).

He's been a great servant as a Club man and really good at interaction with fans and especially with kids at community projects etc.

Lovely lad who I've had the pleasure to meet several times.

Not featured so much in the last two years due to injury but 'scanz' kept us up in the Championship for a few years with some great performances, carrying the team (including Nahki).

Has a great knack of beating a man and then another one or two when running down the wing and putting in low crosses to the box.

Scannell needs love though, he is a confidence player but caused huge problems to very good championship sides 2/3 years ago.

While I'm here, Jack Payne.
Gold young midfielder, scored goals and set them up in our Championship promotion season. Still raw but a very good signing.

Also your rookie manager, Michael Collins. You could see he was leader when he was here at age 21.

Good luck for next season. As local rivals I have a passing interest in your fortunes.

12 months time, we maybe playing each other again! (hope not).

 

Going to say this as I been critical of Edin as people know and I as stated before will gladly eat humble pie come end of season if we achieve something but I can't fault the signings made one bit especially the last half a dozen however the fact Edin isn't making waves about the players brought in would suggest to me he has finally learnt something and that's to keep his mouth shut regarding recruitment and for that I say fair play.

 

This pisses me off! I’m going to have to buy a season ticket at this rate

Tonight saw the seeds of growth of a new era in following City.

You choose to worry about it? I choose to embrace it.

I was watching the management team on the sidelines and they worked well. Constantly talking and directing the players.

There was a real good synergy from what I saw between the management and the players.

Much as some complain Collins does seem to have some rep within the game, none of our signings have shown the slightest worry about the head coach.

 

The model that Mr Rahic will want to work - to prove a point.
Any one could see Mcall was not backed with players of the right calibre last season and did well with what was left and added to. We do not know what targets McCall wanted but were not recruited?

 

I said I'd believe it when I see it and there it is. Excellent signing which both Edin & Collins deserve credit for.

If you look at the direct comparisons on last season then we are looking better. There's still the question of whether it can click together but Scannell added to Payne, Akpan, O'Connor, Riley, O'Donnell - these are players with genuine capability.

So from relegation favourites to possibly achieving something this season in little over a month since Collins was appointed.

On the surface, he would be a great addition with plenty of experience. I can't believe he's only 27 as he seems to have been around for ages.
I've only seen "highlights" of him but I would welcome him here on those I've seen.

 

Looking good have to admit. My worry is the rookie coach.
