A rough count but I reckon his away win percentage here is just 16%

I'm torn. Whilst the performances of late are way off the mark and I share the frustration of many, we are higher up the table than I anticipated.

Valley Parade was a sodding mess during the tenure of Rahic. Let's not kid ourselves, much is to do to repair that damage.

Bowyer has had less than a year. Is it great, performance wise. On the whole, no. Has progress been made, yes.

We are in a play off place, a decent personal that needs some surgery. One transfer window to boot but 3 weeks left of this one, so I don't know... Is Bowyer allowed the opportunity to get us over the line??

I'm unsure. My heart tells me he deserves the chance to get us up. My head, I dunno....

Hmmm Vaughan an athletic mobile forward eh? Not sure you know what you are talking about. Thats NJ's style. Quick and fast moving football. That's not Reeves either or AOC.

Today was the first time I've really doubted whether Bowyer is the one to take us back up. Recalling Doyle and then squandering the good will with such a poor performance is an own goal in of itself, what on earth is he thinking?

It's too late to be changing managers now. We are still on course for a top seven finish and I can't see changing managers doing anything except creating further chaos. We need to stick to the plan and if we don't get promoted, then we can discuss Bowyer's departure.

There’s no way in hell JR sacks Bowyer now. None whatsoever. Not his style. Won’t happen when we are still in top 7 contention.

The ‘Bowyer Out’ brigade are wasting their time.

He had Danny Hylton and James Collins upfront at Luton. If you think they're any more mobile than Doyle or Vaughan, I think it's you who doesn't know what they're talking about.

Reeves and AOC are painfully slow in possession at the minute, granted. But that's because the movement ahead of them is none existent. Both good passers of the ball in their respective positions who would be able to move the ball faster and forwards to players in space with some good coaching.

It's a very rainy day over here, and renovations are waiting on materials to arrive. And City lost. Otherwise even I mightn't be so sad as to start working this out!

But, here goes, for the top-7. How many points has each side gained thanks to penalties or own goals, assuming everything else would have stayed the same? Given that rather wild (IMHO) assumption, this is purely for amusement's sake...

    +8 -- City (two 0-0s became 1-0s thanks to og's, one 0-0 became 1-0 and another 0-0 became 2-0 thanks to pens)

+4 -- FGR (two 0-1s became 1-1s thanks to a pen. and an og, a 0-0 became 1-0 thanks to an og)

    +3 -- Swindon (a 2-2 became 3-2, and a 0-1 became 1-1, thanks to pens)

    +3 -- Plymouth (a 1-2 became 202 thanks to a pen, and a 1-1 became 2-1 thanks to an og)

+2 -- Exeter (two 1-2s became 2-2 thanks to pens)

+2 -- Cheltenham (two 0-1s became 1-1s thanks to pens)

    +2 -- Crewe (1-1 became 2-1 thanks to a pen)

Of course, one really should also take into account the points lost by each side for the same reasons... But with just the gains, we have done well compared to the other top sides.

Thanks for this RCB. Along with these stats and the fact that two deflected efforts won us games against Swindon and Crawley, I think it's fair to say we've been very fortunate.

I don't know what to think anymore.
It's all going a bit pear shaped and my early season enthusiasm is sadly waining due to inept performances and stubborn leadership.
Nothings straight forward as per usual and after years of supporting City you'd think I'd know better, but this season is becoming farcical yet again, from the state of our pitch to having an atmosphere area within the ground with unfortunately very little entertainment to cheer about.
Even the season ticket drive will fail dramatically if things are allowed to continue in the current vein.
The players need a good kick up the backside. Its about time they started to earn their lucrative earnings on match days.
I am seriously beginning to doubt Gary Bowyers managerial credentials at this moment in time.

Julian Rhodes needs to publicly back Bowyer if he believes in him, to be honest something is urgently needed to re galvanise the club and fans.

There are a heck of a lot of fans who are disillusioned and fed up with these poor performances.

Does it make you want to follow your club home and away, only if you are mad.

Move Doyle to Swindon rather than waste his wages if we are trying to grind our way out of league two, lets be honest and not kid ourselves.

Thank you for doing this. I tend towards data driven, objective arguments rather than baseless emotive ones.

Inspired by your approach I've done something similar. I've analysed the various formations that weve deployed this season, measured the points per game return and cross referenced these with similar stats from each of his previous clubs and then added a weighting system to allow for the different leagues that hes been managing within. And the results are clear.

    Gary Bowyer's shit.

Amateur! Your results are never going to be right if you forget to multiply by the coefficient of fan influence divided by the Charlie factor. ;)

It did occur to me to find out how many points we'd lost thanks to opponents' penalties or our own goals -- turns out to be 6. Three 1-0s became 1-1s. Exeter lost 4, Swindon 0, the others 1 or 2. But the table wouldn't change, unless someone below FGR jumped up over them.

But as this whole exercise is based on what I'd consider a false assumption, that everything else would have stayed the same, then it really is just a bit of amusement for a rainy day.

Ok, I have calmed down to an extent. Nevertheless, things need to change, we cannot continue with these dire performances it is soul destroying. JR, SR, and GR need to have a serious discussion about what is expected. We are in a reasonable position in the league which is fortunate given the dire performances that have taken place. If Bowyer is struggling, to put out an attacking team, and more importantly train the players, then he needs help. We need to recruit an assistant fast. Suggestions on who might be able to assist.

I think Swindon could try their luck with an offer, its clear as day Doyle is a better fit at Swindon and being with us is counter productive to both parties. It wasn't the fact he didn't score, that can happen anytime, it was the fact we created nothing for him or Vaughan (for most of the season) that is the telling factor. As you allude to, if it means we have to bring in player/s more akin to Bowyers style, then as much as it pains me thats what it might take to get us out of this division. Because the wonderful utopia of freeflowing football ain't happening with this manager or any other manager with this current squad of players.

Terry McPhillips spent 14 years coaching at Crewe's academy and off course was Bowyers assistant at Blackpool before taking the reins when Bowyer left Blackpool. He would surely be the obvious candidate.

I am amazed Bowyer has not been allowed to bring in his own assistant this season.
