Penalties are almost always created by the attacking team, unless it's a colossal mess by the opposition with no attacking input. Own goals can be similar.

Plus, do we know how many points OTHER teams have gained through opposition mistakes?

I can't imagine we're the luckiest team in the division going forward...

Teams up and down the land get OG's, deflected goals and , yes even penalties.

Most OG's are down to putting a defender under pressure or a good ball into the box.

I cant see that we are getting more than our fair share of those types of goals.

 

Yeah the savage irony is that if he’d gone with his usual formation and tactics we might have got away with a scrappy scoreless draw. Today he went from having lots of defensive security to just two lightweights in midfield. The answer is to sign someone who can tackle and boss the midfield then you can play two up top without having to go to three at the back. Reeves, Palmer and Taylor! We won’t get promotion with those three in the engine room.

 

Could anybody, honestly, see us giving the likes of Hartlepool, Halifax or Solihull moors a decent game.......?

The main concern with those goals without calling them 'lucky' is that they're hard to repeat.

We don't have a common threat - no cast iron way of creating chances.

 

Our squad is unbalanced. We’ve got good players in most positions but some key weaknesses. A raiding right back who can cross a ball is essential especially if you don’t always play wingers. Midfield height and strength is vital. Sorry to keep knocking out the same point. It seems so obvious to me but maybe not to thd manager.

 

I think Swindon got lucky with their pen against us. It was a routine cross that happened to hit Wood’s arm. He didn’t move it to the ball but under the modern interpretation it’s a pen because he had his arm out. Some goals are luckier or unluckier than others.

 

i feel bored of it all, god knows how the players feel after that demoralising defeat. This doesn’t remotely feel like a promotion season.

What could we expect in League one in a Bowyer team If we even got there.

Would be my choice, played the best football I've ever seen from a side at L1/2 level.

 

Took him two-and-a-half seasons to get Luton promoted from League Two, Bowyer hasn't even had one season and he's for the chop.

Not a chance Bradford City fans will give Jones that kind of time to assemble a squad

 

Personally, if he had us playing like his Luton side most weeks, I would happily give him 2 years to produce a side capable of back to back promotions. But I appreciate many wouldn't do so.

And the reason I wouldn't give Bowyer that time is because his style wouldn't be successful in league 1.

 

Yeah, it doesn't seem to matter how good the football is, our fans want results right away - particularly in L2 and even L1.

We'd be losing because our defence was too leaky, or because our players weren't quite adjusted yet to the demands of the style Jones would impose (ie, 'don't know what they're doing') and the Fordy's of the world would be dissecting every defeat.

 

Bowyer is clueless though.. confused manager!

None. So you want a complete rebuild of the whole squad on a tight budget. Good luck with that.

Wood, Reeves, Cooke, AOC, POC, Devitt, Vaughan, Doyle, Pritchard, McCartan would all perform better from an attacking perspective under Jones.
