You seriously don't think we are discussing all this stuff for the sake of it do you? A few of are discussing how the hell we sell this club to the next generation of fans and you think there is nothing wrong? Just have a look what our near neighbours down the road have just done and brought in a player from the bundesliga to strengthen their attack. laying down a marker as to where they want to be next season. I know its an extreme example but its highly likely they will be planning for premiership football while we wipe the floors of the khazi league for another season. Football is changing, kids are becoming less interested watching cloggers masquerading as footballer in league 2. Damn it this clubs needs some ambition.

I would sack Bowyer with immediate affect and install McCall until the end of the season.

McCall for a short third spell would create a positive atmosphere and at least the football would be attractive. I think he could do a lot more than Bowyer with this squad. We can install a permanent manager in the summer. If Macca takes us up then keep him on....

    Dear Gary

What the blazes were you thinking last night !? In all my 40+ years of endurement at Valley Parade that has to be the lowest ebb for me ?

So its come to this. We have one footballer on the pitch - Devitt ! He gets red carded and this reduces us to playing junior football. ?

We go in lucky to be 1-0 up and your idea is to send out this sackless set to stand 5 at the back and 4 in front of them no further forward than the 18 yard box ! And proceed to hoof the ball away and throw themselves around. You call it pride in the shirt ? It shows how much the lads care ? we"re all in it together and the fans ?.

Well let me tell you this ! It was none of that it was abject bloody surrender ! and the worst effort in a Home game I have witnessed EVER. Lets be frank Cheltenham are crap apart from their number 29. We not playing Chelsea ? or Swansea in a League Cup Final. This is Cheltenham and we are set up to try and stalemate the game out for a 1-0 ? While I think on the might have been some credability lining up with everyone on the 18 yard line in the 2013 League Cup Final ? But bloody Cheltenham at home for Christs sake ?

We camp on our 18 yard box conceeding possession to the extent that the stats are 25-75 % to the opposition and do nothing to effect the game ?. It was the worst example of playing with 10 men ever and you cost us ! We could have won the game with the slightest idea how to play football ? You dont conceed possession to such an extent that at every turn the opposition have the ball and its constantly coming back at you.

Oh no ? You get the ball and pass it ! Pass it in triangles up the pitch; try move the ball around. But you dont hoof it to your opponents. Its basic stuff surely and by doing that you make it harder for the opposition. Yiu can play football with 10 men and this has been proved time and time again. But you have to understand how to do it ? granted the 10 lumps a wood left might struggle and in this case clearly did ! But you send them out with a plan and there was none of that last night.

I am not buying all this bluster over digging in and playing for the shirt. That was rank surrender last night the worst I have ever seen at Valley Paeade by a City team. Unforgiveable from the Home team and its like this time and time again !. But that hit an all time low for me.

I have said your a decent man on that I do not waver. But after last nights latest worst example of your inability to deploy the players in a pattern that resembles a footballing idea ? I am left only to say "do the decent thing and clear your desk" For all of our sakes.

McCall's not the answer I am afraid. No room for sentiment if Bowyer goes

No I really can't. I just don't know why he would want to own a lower league football club in a country other than where he lives. It beggars belief that he ever got involved with us at all and proves to me that Rahic really did know something ....about bullshit!

I'll say it again ... he was sold a pig in a poke and at some point he will have to crystallise his loss, put it all down to experience and move on to other things. It can't come soon enough for me but at the moment there doesn't seem to be anybody even thinking about waiting in the wings let alone make him an offer.

If it happens, I am hoping it will also coincide with a new Chief Exec being appointed who has some idea of how to run a football club in the long run rather than the hand to mouth strategy w've had for far too many years. Regrettably, I still believe it's going to get worse before it gets better.

I fear all teams atm. I don’t think we could beat the under 16’s! Let’s just say when GB has gone we end up having a right crack at the playoffs, then we just fall short of 3 points, the fans would quite rightly point back to this decision to delay. Plus I don’t believe we haven’t the money, we have just trimmed loads of wages, plus the McBurnie money and other player sales this was all above and beyond the budget. Or we could pay him monthly rather than in one lump sum.

Ryan Sparks is a good media man, he is doing a very difficult job in very difficult circumstances. None of this is his fault. He has to do what the club want him to do, he has no say, he has to present all the decisions in the best possible light. So for goodness sake leave him alone. It is the Board that needs to get their heads above the parapet and tell us what is happening.

McCall had a philosophy and brought an identity to the way we played. He had his hands tied by the dictator and all his best players released against his will. Bowyer has been heavily backed and seems to have full control without interference. Bowyer Ball isn't even remotely close to looking like anything that could closely relate to Football. Totally different situation. McCall's football wasn't reducing the attendance by over 50% and I imagine the ST sales are non existent. What is the point in keeping him in. He's useless and costing the club £1000's a week in the process. He's wasting his own time and ours.

Exactly. And he already has his own get out of jail card sanctioned by Rupp and/or Rhodes. He's got two high earners off this season's payroll; he's earned some money into the bargain and replaced them with cheaper alternatives. That will have gone down well with both of his paymasters. Until we've seen the new players in action, we won't know whether the changes will improve our on field performances or not and only then can he be judged on the changes he's been allowed to make. Unfortunately by the time that happens, we may well be further outside the play-offs which although it might bring the issue to a head, it's not going to happen tomorrow. Alternatively the changes might be successful and we (or rather Rupp and Rhodes) will look back at recent performances and say we've turned the corner! But neither of those will result in Bowyer leaving soon. I don't understand what Rupp in particular gains from sacking Bowyer now and before the new squad has had time to show what it can do.

And even if, as I expect, performances don't improve, there is still 3 months in which to recruit a replacement and for that to act as a stimulus to the important issue for Rhodes and Rupp, selling next season's STs.

Posters on here who are wanting Bowyer sacked sooner rather than later are thinking as fans. Whether we like it or not, Rupp doesn't run the club as a fan; he runs it as a business. And he'll make decisions in that way.

Eoin Doyle has no blame attached whatsoever to why this club is currently in free fall. Thankfully him coming back has highlighted just how badly run we are off the field never mind on it.

Give over calling every criticism an over reaction, the baffling decisions and poor performances span Bowyer’s reign here going back to last spring, today was simply his peak so far.

The wins under a 4-4-2 have masked over the facr that we haven’t really played well yet. An Oldham team that were better first half despite having no game plan whatsoever and a win at Stevenage determined more by our keepers efforts than our creative, or lack of, efforts. Its early days but i’m yet to be convinced this squad has what it takes. Our front two continue to impressed (although were well marshalled today) and our defence on the whole looks solid. But until we work a system out that fits the midfielders in the squad and stick with we will continue to struggle. We continue to pick at Akpan or Anderson but in truth not one midfielder has done anything of note, there is no cohesion between any of them and no one really knows what the two new players will bring in terms of skillset.

Because they were so obviously out of their depth it was clear.

Cooper? Didn’t he decide he didn’t want the job?

Collins was woeful. And they will talk to the players too and know how bad he was.

Bowyer will work. This scaremongering panic needs to stop

We shouldn't lose sight of two things:

    1) You have to finish 7th to have a chance of promotion
    2) We were easily the worst team in the entire EFL last season, and would be in the Conference had we been a League Two team

Bowyer's formations and tactics are frustrating and it feels like he isn't using our players to full potential - however there is nothing to suggest we won't be capable of finishing 7th, or that we haven't improved about what Rahic created (not hard, mind).

Bowyer has got his tactics wrong twice in a row, but at most clubs I'm pretty sure he'd be afforded the time to work things out with his squad.

Let's not hit the panic button and continue the 'reign of Rahic' tactics now that the pillock has gone.

It's time for some patience, and part of building that patience is accepting that even though Bowyer has made mistakes we aren't going to bulldoze teams every week. Luckily for Gary, Crewe are on reasonable form, so the defeat isn't that extraordinary - but we need to hit a nice vein of form sooner rather than later.

Your minimum for Bowyer was getting out of this league at the first attempt. Tell me the last time a team got promoted in December?

He’s picking up points but not in the style we want to see. You’re like a petulant child who gets want he wants, then wants something else when he gets it. It wouldn’t matter who was in charge, how many goals we scored, how much money we spent, you’d never be happy. You change your opinion like the wind changes direction. Have patience and grow up.

I’m not a fan of the football on offer but I certainly think we’re one of the top 3 teams in this league. Bowyer has reunited the club and genuinely wants to bring the pride back, which he’s doing. Only the other day in a different post, you were praising him for his man management skills. He’s brought stability back to the club and you want to rock the boat by hiring the 8th manager in under 3 years, all because he’s not playing a style that suits you....

You were wrong about Reeves and wrong about Wright (lol).

Bowyer has improved O’Connor and Wood, made the defence more cohesive and been unlucky in that the injuries have hit in the middle and top of the pitch. Give him a chance with the next window to move some on and bring in more of his own, then hopefully we’ll cement our place in the top 3.

Funny game football, I remember people being bored of Stuart McCalls football because the football was good but no real end product.
