Just listened to his post match comments. Apparently the goals were nothing to do with tactics or formations but about "individual pride". Now that comment is almost as bad as collins saying formations don't matter. This guy is losing me with every passing game.

 

He's the best manager to get us out of this league.

Shit house management. Shifting the blame - and public blaming of players is rarely a sensible idea. The words of a man who knows hes under a bit of pressure. He could ease that pressure by playing 3 or 4 games with a settled side and system, and some positive tactics.

 

I am also not loving him throwing the players under a bus!! Good leaders take it on the chin. Look he might as well plonk me in midfield as Akpan same result, opposition goes straight through me. Asking players to do what is clearly not in their skill range is nuts.

He has to man up here, every single player will have played the tried and tested 442 and fully understand how to play it. Yes I know he wants to play a different system, but I want out of this league. We need two good strong ball carrying midfielders to have real chance of a strong 442 team, yes we might have to change it mid match, but that is how we should start in my view.

 

He strikes me as egotistical.

He isnt really a 442 man. After the first few games he came under a bit of fire from fans waiting 442. He tried it and we beat Oldham 3-0. Then we did it again and beat Stevenage but after 15 mins we couldn't get a kick and he changed it. We still couldn't get a kick.

It's as if he cant wait to play the formation he wants to play and be damned whatever anyone else thinks. That's fine if it works. But it isn't.

Or Wood in left midfield and Longridge at left back. A standard system that everyone understands and would play to our strengths.

 

Just seen the lowlights and if they are anything to go by we got off lightly !!!

We are gradually morphing in to Blackpool reserves and losing our identity
Bowyer has had enough time now to know his preferred side and formation we should not be changing that in fear of FGR Crewe or any other team before the season started we were favourites to finish champions Some on here myself included said give him 10 games (this season) before making judgement I fear if we do we will be over double the 6 point gap between us and the leaders
6 points is not a lot at this point in the season but unless performances improve and a bit of on pitch stability with formations, the gap could well be way too big before Christmas
The CEO or whatever JR title is and the manager have both experienced promotions from this division so must recognize something is wrong how they put it right is where they will be put to the test
Reading some posts on here is frighteningly like reading posts from this time last season We cannot have the same outcome !!!!!!

 

I think at the moment he is in denial that anything is wrong
His "I got Blacpool promoted " I know what I am doing attitude could well be clouding his judgement or does he feel like Mr Grayson that he is a cut above this league
Either way he needs to do his talking on the pitch and get some consistency or whichever way he won't be a L2 manager much longer

No he said the players need to do their talking on the pitch, and apparently some of them didn’t today! How he can’t see he has to take responsibility for this is beyond me and a worry. No reflection, no change!

 

We shouldn't lose sight of two things:

1) You have to finish 7th to have a chance of promotion
2) We were easily the worst team in the entire EFL last season, and would be in the Conference had we been a League Two team

Bowyer's formations and tactics are frustrating and it feels like he isn't using our players to full potential - however there is nothing to suggest we won't be capable of finishing 7th, or that we haven't improved about what Rahic created (not hard, mind).

Bowyer has got his tactics wrong twice in a row, but at most clubs I'm pretty sure he'd be afforded the time to work things out with his squad.

Let's not hit the panic button and continue the 'reign of Rahic' tactics now that the pillock has gone.

It's time for some patience, and part of building that patience is accepting that even though Bowyer has made mistakes we aren't going to bulldoze teams every week. Luckily for Gary, Crewe are on reasonable form, so the defeat isn't that extraordinary - but we need to hit a nice vein of form sooner rather than later.

 

Not really it as our formation that allowed them to dictate the game from around half an hour in. It was madness to tinker with the defence, the main thing that Bowyer had got right. If you are gonna play that formation you need top quality full backs, and no disrespect to us but we don't have that quality.

 

You mean wing backs, surely, because Mellor is a TOP quality full back in L2. Wood is never a defender in a million years, though, so he's possibly more suited to wing back - unless he has defensive duties.

People criticised Henley at LB, but since he got injured and Wood moved back, we've gone 0-2.

This isn't a surprise after last year.

I'd sooner we played Wood as a striker than a left back.

Talk of sacking GB is daft. You can’t entrust a manager to sign twelve hand-picked players and then dispose of his services after only six matches and two defeats. Managers justifiably get the push after a string of heavy defeats, a couple of five-nil drubbings etc. He must be given time. Having said that, the omens are not good and he appears to have a side top heavy with midfielders and defenders but remarkably lacking in pace up top and out wide. Had Devitt and and the lad signed on Friday not missed sitters in the last two matches we would still be undefeated.

 

I can only go on what i've seen of Mellor but he's just a bang average defender. Both Mellor and Wood look more suited to the wing back role but that leaves you dangerously exposed like we saw yesterday. And to be fair to Wood he's been one of the better players since he came in to the side. Problem is it all looks imbalanced at the moment, we've already played over 20 players and its only just September. If we bring anyone else in that will be even more. The team should be picking itself by now.

I don’t see Mellor as a wingback. He’s too tall for one thing. Wood, on the other hand, seems very well suited to the role. I like Mellor’s physical presence at the back stick. Tomorrow could be a very important day, which might make or break the season. I do hope we can sign a strong-running, ball carrier who can link up play.

 

Is there a height restriction for wing backs?

 

Yes as I said we lost the ball in midfield I think it was Akpan they took advantage and played a simple ball into 20yards of space for Kirk to run onto as he hs done 10 minutes earlier and beat O'Donnell.
The second was a great peice of individual skill but if you let a player run from the edge of youf box and not challenge theres every chance he'll get a shot away which Lowrey did and scored a very good goal.
