Not at all, does the fact that Taylor was poor change today’s horror show? A midfield as bad as any you can name, zero quality in possession and the unforgivable tactic of backing off to the extent a goalkeeper has the ball almost unopposed by the halfway line. Add it to the list Gary of crap you keep serving up week in week out.

    Horror show? Complete over reaction.

Yeah just tell me how their goalie hurt us today?

Great tactics to allow their back 5 the ball cos not one of them knew what to do with it.

Devitt and Cooke look much better than what we have. You not seeing that?

Give over calling every criticism an over reaction, the baffling decisions and poor performances span Bowyer’s reign here going back to last spring, today was simply his peak so far.

Good question, I wish I could answer it. Bowyer talks about playing good football but all I've seen is defenders having no options in midfield and lumping it up to Donaldson and Vaughan. Its shocking football at the minute.

Was working down in Woking today so just catching up (hope you dont mind me advising our 'worst' left back in history Dowse now has part time Woking sitting top of the National League - bloody marvellous)
Just listened to GB Radio Leeds interview and I honestly cant tell if I feel he has got thing under grips or not - some of his early honesty seems to have morphed into the usual cliches. I think the 2 lads who have come in this week will be assets but my major hope is, as we have no game this midweek, that everything possible will be done to address the areas where are still blatantly weak and have limited back up; that a couple more of last years failures will be move on; and that GB will have a good look at himself in what he is asking the team to do - both in terms of the formation but also in ensuring we are as positive as we can be.
We are going to get blips in this 'horrible' division (sounds like Forest Green played true to a Cooper team) but 5 games in we havent really delivered a performance to be proud of - improved defence, 3 good goals v Oldham and a backs to the wall v Stevenage bode well - but Gary 'I know this division' needs to show in the next 5 games that we are all progressing in the right way

Calling for the manager to be sacked 5 games into a season, with only 1 league defeat, is ludicrous, or a poor attempt at a wind-up

Agree Idle, but I dont some of those calling for it are attempting a wind-up - I think GB has quite a bit to do to win some people over (rightly or wrongly)

I'd love it if the answer to our problems was a slight formation tweak but it isn't.

We've been shit in every single game we've played this season, including both the games we employed 4-4-2.

If Oldham and Stevenage is now being used as a template for success then the result today would have been exactly the same and will continue to be until we see more quality in the side.

The biggest problem at the moment isn't tactics, it's the playears who simply haven't been good enough.

Bang on. 5 games in and we haven't performed well for a full game once. Two out of the three sides to come to VP so far have left with points and haven't needed to break sweat.

Not sure sure I deserve a 'bang on ' as wasnt quite saying we have been 'shit' as you stated in your previous post! I do feel there are positives, particularly defensively, but I do agree it hasnt been pleasant on the eye so far. Problem this is a horrible division and it will occasionally take 'horrible' performances to get us out of it.
I would just like us to show a bit of class as well and be on the front foot wherever possible

First game I've been able to watch live this season (watched Stevenage online) and that was truly turgid. Two poor teams and an even worse ref. About right for lg2.

The fact is our squad is good. Significantly better than 95% teams in our league. Why don't we start playing like it. I know we can, I've seen us play some nice stuff. We have the players.

If you play 3 in midfield you have to dominate possession and that has to be a key part of the game plan. Have we had more than 50% possession in any game this season? What's the point in a midfield 3 if we're not gonna play and get players on the ball. It's not lack of quality, it's lack of style.

Donaldson and Vaughan is a perfect front 2 in this division, they have to play alongside each other. Donaldson did a commendable job on the wing I thought, but Vaughan was so isolated and had no service. Its a complete waste.

The FGR defenders and keeper were not comfortable on the ball, yet we allowed them to play out from the back and saunter up to the half way line and play a simple ball. When we did actually press, they made mistakes and booted it out for throw ins in their own half. You don't need to do a high press like Liverpool, but make them work for it a little bit.

Yes we nullified them for the majority of the match, but you are always liable to concede a goal like we did today. At some point you have to stamp your authority and game, actually try and score a goal and get your players on the ball. We did that for about 5 mins.

I can't really fault any of the players today, even Akpan was better than I've seen in recent weeks. One of the most tactically inept jobs I've seen from us. 3 points lost today. I sincerely hope Bowyer has learned something from today, not sure I can stomach a season of that. Even if we do churn out 1-0 wins every week courtesy of an own goal.

    Rant over

Forest Green, beaten in playoffs last year, were the first ‘decent’ team we’ve faced.

It was a frustrating game. Strikers were isolated, while we had a goal disallowed after conceding late.....but when the dust has settled tomorrow, it won’t seem so bad.

In terms of our attacking efforts, we had nine shots in the box (7th highest in division) and 16 shots in total (6th best in the division). It wasn’t a horror show. It was bloody frustrating and we need to get used to opposition playing the same way.

I hated the lack of width and we missed Connor Wood on the left and Scannell on the right. If injuries to Henley and fear of burning out Scannell forced the changes then so be it, but if Scannell is rested one week and we HAVE to play 4-3-3 id like to see Cooke, Devitt and Palmer given a chance in there, with McCartan behind D & V before consigning 4-3-3 to the scrapheap for good.

Back to 4-4-2 next week please GB.

Over the top?? Probably but I still think he will eventually get himself sacked and rightly so would be my guess, anyone playing lineups/formations like he does deserve all they get.

Excellent post. Football is part of the entertainment industry and if you contnually serve up the kind of football we've seen so far this season people will soon start to vote with their feet. I don't think GB sees it like this. He's another PP, wedded to an unattractive style of playing, producing minimal levels of excitement. Very disillusioned after today and can't see anything other than a very dull and boring season ahead, whatever the results.
