I'm not falling out either. It's one of my NY resolutions
I was very loosely paraphrasing. Problem is, when you come out and say fans deserve much better, and will continue to invest, then the vast majority automatically think that investment equates to the purchase of new players. Because at that time, that is what we needed - we couldn't buy a win, and the players weren't playing to the full of their potential, let alone for the team. That was something tangible us fans could relate to - and therefore expect fixing as a matter of priority.
The talk of admin and financial mismanagement did the rounds as a rumour during the end of last year. To many it was dismissed as a rumour, because in our eyes, there is no way that we could be going out of business because we had two relatively wealthy businessmen running the club. It would be inconceivable that the club could be in financial dire straits, as the club had only just recently changed hands, and apparently all the accounts were in order. Of course, as Edin's role in the club started to be further and further dragged through the mud, then yes, financial dealing were questioned. Can you point me to any evidence that Rupp has been injecting money into the club to prevent us going out of business? I haven't seen any quotes or statements from him on this matter. Transparency is one of the things we have been lacking through this new regime, and I would have seriously hoped that Rupp would have understood that he can definitely gain some respect by providing it.
I'm not really buying that investors only really get more hands on once they know something is going seriously wrong. I'm also not naive enough to expect day to day runnings from an investor, but I do know, and would expect that someone who has invested enough money to own 70% of the club, should be looking at the numbers and holding board meetings on a monthly basis.
Unfortunately from Rupps point of view, it comes across as if he just shut his eyes and opened his ears to Edin for the best part of his tenure. I'm glad that there was enough eventual noise (from staff, from performances and from the fans) to get through to him. For sure he was left with a lot of egg on his face, and I believe his very angry statement which he published shortly after Edins departure, was part knee jerk, and part lip service to the fans.
As I finished off with "I hope I am wrong" then I hope you can see that I am not a doom monger or a "I told you so" type of person. I really, really want us to build on this new foundation we've had in terms of a manager getting results, the players putting a shift in, the fans getting back on board and the general sense of optimism that is now running through the club. Of course, if the statements you say about Rupp investing money into the club to keep us from the bailiffs door are true, then that dampens a lot of expectation. Hope as you say, that situation is also resolved now.
I still think that Rupp needs to show his hand though - either by coming out and explaining the current financial status of the club, or by backing up DH with some funds for some players to ensure that we're in League One next year.

“We need to bring in another one or two but I don’t want to make wholesale changes.

However, Hopkin has said he needs 2 players and having to sell(get rid of players) in our position is an embarrassment. See Scunny on how it should be done.
Look, for me Rupp is a massively to blame for the mess this club is in and it seems he didn't take running it seriously. I want and need him to prove to us fans that's he is willing to do all it takes to get this club at least where it was when he brought it. He needs to bloody put his hands in his pocket and start buying some decent players.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... I agree with what @Fordy117 is saying. Rupp said he’d get us out of this mess and there would be money for players. How is that in anyway dependent on some players leaving?
Yes the squad is big, And yes there’s some deadwood. What if no one wants Jones, Wright and Riley (sounds like an estate agents!)? Does that mean we don’t add to the squad? If neither connected, get some new players in first, ones that are going to be starting games, and then ship out the slackers and trim the squad.
All a bit worrying to me, and I hear the familiar sound of goalposts being moved.Fordy117 and bantamdave41 like this. -

For League 1, I think you'll find that the SCMP cap is calculated as 60% of Relevant Turnover plus 100% of Football Fortune Income. It's Sect 1.2 in the League 1 SCMP protocol.
Thus if the owner chose to give the club (rather than loan the club) £2mill or injected £2mill of equity, all of that would be eligible as part of the SCMP cap. -

The one 'rule' seems to be that Man Utd youngsters get a shot at league football - from there, it's a scatter gun-style set of outcomes.
The idea that 'touted' youngsters fare well in the adult leagues just isn't true, nor should it be expected.Solentbantam and Rogered Tart like this. -

Riley has been a bit unlucky.true he wasn't great like the rest of them at the start of the season he picked up an injury and with the signing if caddis he hasn't had a look in.
He was highly thought of by people who watched young players at Manchester.
A loan move might be a good idea instead of permanent.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Damo and Johnny Yen like this. -
For Riley, read Eddie Johnson. Not good enough for the top, but not suited to lower league football, bit of a quandry

To oust Rahic took bravery and leadership. Rupp has also put money into this club and has promised to continue to do so. People need to understand that his investment must be sustainable and not reckless.TallinnBantam and Utters0 like this. -
If they can’t find a club to take on their contract, we might need to offer incentives as long as as we free up at least half of their salary, it is still a saving.
Yes we have improved but we are still squad light on players who can come in and do a job in the heat of the relegation battle.Interested Bystander and Rogered Tart like this. -
