You can't really do it as how would you choose which 4 games to take off? Anyone could just take off the four games they wish to suit whichever argument they're making

The goal is 24 feet wide and OD is 6 feet plus tall. That means that not only did he miss the original shot but it ran along six feet of his body before hitting the other post. It wasn't a fast shot with good reactions he could have got a foot to it before it hit the other post, even from being prostrate on the ground. OD has the reactions of an 80 year old grandma.

 

Yep, if the shot goes in off the post then the last person I'm looking at is the keeper.

 

I do remember not offering better terms to keep McLaughlin, which was a huge mistake in my opinion, maybe that is the occasion you are thinking of?

Not sure why we were jaded, not like we've been under pressure with fixtures and weve not been playing Tuesday/Saturday. We are just a bang average side with bang average players. Our current position should be no surprise off the back of it.

 

Question, why wasn't there cover on the bench for ROD?

surely the two things are not connected. Just because the forwards didn’t perform doesn’t give ROD an excuse not to perform either

 

I was amazed to find he is only 33. I thought he was nearer 40.

 

Seen a couple of the recent posts partly pinning blame on Songo'o, saying canavan is more commanding in the air.

From memory that was just about the only header pitman won, songo'o pretty much won every competitive header against him all afternoon. It was more about attacking nous that pitman showed pulling off a little rather than beating him straight up in a challenge

 

I cant believe you are all giving ROD a free pass for the first goal on Sat.
The header was less than 6 yards out and between the two posts.
What is a goalkeeper for if he cannot at least show an attempt at catching or punching a well directed but ordinary run of the mill corner.
I ask again where was he?

 

He made no effort to stop the header. I think he misread it rather than it being a great header. Watch it back and ask yourself why he never tried to get a hand to it and only flopped at the end because it went in and not over or wide. I agree he gets unnecessary stick at times and the defenders get a free pass, but the 2nd goal for me shouldn't be going in.

 

It’s a football forum, we debate about every player and manager(even assistant) every season should we follow this logic and sack them all because there’s a debate to be had?

 

Entitled to your opinion but I would have to disagree, take last night for example - their keeper did not make any saves of real note but what he did do is completely control his 18yd box AND vary his distribution (much to our annoyance at times). I accept that they had differing tactics to us but he just seemed to have far more control of what was going on around him.

This has not been an unusual occurrence this season, without trying to compare ROD with keepers you see once/twice a season how about comparing him with our other regular recent incumbents. Would you rate him better than say Ben Williams, Johnny Mac, Colin Doyle, Rhys Evans even Donovan Ricketts! For me every single one would walk in over him.

 

He’s s**t, but not to blame for either goal.

He does get beat often, too easily. He has one of the worse save percentages in the division.

It might have been in the corner, but it wasn't a great strike by any means. Far too slow to get down to shots from outside the box.

He almost through another in the near post straight after

 

Hornby may or may not be any better a keeper than ROD but I think the defenders in front of him would have more confidence and a bit less to worry about should Hornby be given an extended run..

 

He’s not the best but we had a great run with him in the side before ROD was shoehorned back in and then out again by T & S
