Agree with them all. Bonus of this pandemic is we haven’t been soft as shite like before and offered some of the wasters a new deal. Cut our losses and start again.

The tune on Donaldson has changed. I tried to point out that he wasn’t very good earlier in the season and all I got what that his all round play is phenomenal and I’ll only realize how valuable he is when he’s not in the team. “There’s more to bring a striker than just scoring goals”.

A slide down the table, Bowyer sacked and the season over well before the pandemic started later and suddenly making him one of the highest paid squad members to win fouls and “make the ball stick” doesn’t seem as appealing.

Awful player who’s wages alone will hold us back next season.

 

Given some in L2 are apparently busy signing players/ deep in negotiation, eg Port Vale, I would be surprised if a salary cap came in next season and if it does it clearly can't include players already contracted. The £1.25m quoted is too low if it includes existing contracts. On that basis we could probably not afford a full team let alone a squad of say 23.

 

It's getting the right players in mate Cullen & Burke being great examples, if fit they automatically played because of what they offered the team.

I dont understand why we are trying to keep O'Donnell? He wasn't that good and he will be on a very high contract with Edin signing him in 2018.

At the present moment I think most would agree a promotion tilt wont come any easier than next season, if Rupp funds us into the coming season whenever that is we should be amongst the favourites.

 

Like most teams we will struggle to move on anybody currently under contract, simply because nobody else will be offering better terms. In that respect we will likely have to work around what we currently have and build our team accordingly whether we like it or not. Especially if there is a maximum senior squad size of 20 as is rumoured.

Our forward line is pretty much finalised based upon players under contract e.g Vaughan, Donaldson, Novak and Guthrie.

Likewise our central defence is pretty much covered with the O'Connors and Richards-Everton.

In which case that leaves the full backs and the midfield as the areas we will be strengthening. To be fair if you asked me in February what areas we need to prioritise in the summer, those two areas would have been my choices. It's not ideal that we have to choose, but most teams will be operating under similar constraints.

 

And that anwsered the total opposite of the question, so all @Wolfysmith needs to do now is get the full squad, cross out those above and they will have the info they asked for
