Not for me, Simon, those players were very much the 'fat' on our squad, lads who didn't factor at all increasing our head count.

I can sort of see an argument for Devine and Gibson because they never embarrassed themselves, but obviously nudging them closer to the starting line up but that's a risk when we might get good players for little money given the situation means I'd gamble.

We had a pretty dire season so it makes sense that most of the out of contract players are being released. They underperformed and were mainly part of Bowyer’s planning not Stuart’s.

Add to that the fact that we have no idea when we will be back playing football again. It could be 2021 before we kick a ball. In which case, cutting costs where we can makes total sense.

 

@Park bantam would've kept them all. In his eyes we were great last season and all the players did well.

You’ve never seen City if you think Devine, Anderson and Gibson were worth keeping. You’ll be telling me Guthrie looks interested and like a goal machine and Akpan and Riley have been good value for money next.

I've been crying out for Bradford City to hire a Sporting Director and this is one of the reasons why.

So we are left with Vaughan, Donaldson, Novak and Guthrie. I don't think McCall would have any of them and 3 out of the four are kind of the same player. Guthrie is utter sh&te, Donaldson, Novak and Vaughan are getting on. None can play in a 10 or out wide

All four are out of contract next season also.

I think we will have to go into the loan market to get another forward in.

 

McCall has just chosen to take up the option for another year on Donaldson
