Hey Millario. What's happening? You must have visited at least half a dozen new restaurants since the last post on this thread . What have you got to tempt our tastebuds with ?

Ha, I was in Dublin for a few nights and there's some top scranning to be had over there.

The Hinchliffe in Cragg Vale was excellent value I thought, although I seem to recall someone on here wasn't keen. (Writing this one up.)

Visited the International twice. Gaudy fit-out but top notch curry. Alas, no free pickle tray anymore.

Shibden Mill Inn on Sat'day continued its good form.

Funnily enough I'm heading over to Lydgate this eve to a restaurant with rooms called the White Hart.

Anybody tried Sambuca in Windhill?. I am hearing some good reviews, and despite being just a couple of miles down the road from me, I hadnt heard about it until recently

I found Dublin centre more expensive than London last year, even dives were £5 a pint joints, wait till Wetherspoons shakes that cartel up!

I've been twice, can walk there in 15 mins. Both times were for do's, I would not choose to dine there as the menu is too bog standard. If you liked the Ital and also want to move upmarket from the Hitching Posts £4.99 carvery then Sambuca will do the trick, it's ok food wise and very cheap.

Tbh I gave it 6 months due to it's location & the oiks hanging about with cheap cider but I know a lot of people who've been and on a weekend it always looks busy. I think the closure of old favourites like Orlandos and DaTonionos will have helped because the nearest two Italians now are San Angelos which is miles better but miles more expensive or Aldo's which is more expensive but no better (IMO).

It's a Mini-Ital, cheap decor and location, ok basic Italian fayre, noisy atmosphere, it's a good do/party spot.

Thinking about it, they took a huge risk opening Sumbuca in that old pub, what with Frankie's Chicken next door, a cheap booze shop either side and the local lowlife well known for their nocturnal loitering activity, god knows where folk park. So, the owners desrve huge credit for making it, an apparent, success. Maybe they should move to Idle and charge 20%+. So many people say the same, "We (Thackley/Idle) have nowhere decent to eat" great opportunity for somebody, with no lack of people and spare cash nearby.

Not been out much as I have been on a diet, moving from merely buff, to ripped......

But we went on the piss in Halifax a couple of weeks ago, god the Interchange is bleedin filthy and the trains old, mucky and s.l.o.w, £3.80 return I think. Halifax was fine, it always is, pretty busy and with a choice of places to eat that Bradford centre can only dream of, little Halifax!

After quite a few beers we looked for somewhere to eat and stumbled across The Temperance Movement, it stood out a mile as it was a veggie/vegan cafe with good lighting, stripped wood and chalk painted bricks that looked like it'd got lost on it's way to Leeds. It's in a covered arcade entering the market, only 4 customers in at about 3pm on a Saturday though, plenty of room downstairs, upstairs or sat outside under the glass canopy, we chose the latter.

We both had a bagel and a latte, I'm struggling to recall what exactly was in them but definitely cheese, aubergines and romesco sauce, really tasty, wasn't expecting something like that outside of the Piece Hall Yard. But....................IIRC the bill was about £18-20, the bagels were £5.50 each...hmmmm............ I was still hungry, they were "snacks", the staff were great, the food great, menu interesting and it was really well designed.....but I was in Halifax, with opposite, a closed down shop and another selling health food supplements, for a backdrop. I can get the same in Leeds at the same price but in a packed out place with a great atmosphere and a beer too!

I think if a side salad and/or chips were included then I wouldn't have been hungry and wouldn't have started to dwell on the cost, on the other hand what's £18/20 for a snack that you enjoyed? Be interesting to see how successful it is and if Halifax really is the Northern Shoreditch.:)

I know that but with the likening to the Ital I thought it could have been either Christian, a sister, or another member of the family.

Christian runs a company called ERL Catering Engineers now. Not sure about the rest of family, but cannot imagine them setting up another restaurant within a couple of miles

Wow. Sounds like even Halifax is leaving Bradford behind now......although if the place was empty on a Saturday afternoon it might not be around too long.

Great Northern opening up again and I think has been bought by Greene King and will be serving 'pub food' according to there Facebook site. The village really could do with a decent place to eat, Beerhouse is ok but another none takeaway place would be good.

Never been in all the time it's been there, never fancied it and not sure why. Heard a few mixed reports.
