I'm not sure I agree the pitch was getting worse, because Lawn and Rhodes simply relaid it every few years. Last time (I forget the year) they got the guys at St Ives involved. Stop-gap solutions, yes, could it continue, yes. Is it better to cure the problem than treat the symptoms? Course it is.

Lawn and Rhodes did get fan backing, and money was raised for certain things (changings rooms, scoreboard), but I don't see that as anything particularly sinister. The bottom is, during the Lawn and Rhodes tenure, things improved. The scoreboard is better, so are the changing rooms.

You're saying these things went backwards.

Can you illustrate how the score board or changing rooms deteriorated? Or how relaying the pitch this Summer on the cheap would have left us with a worse pitch than we have right now?

VP is deteriorating badly. Maybe Edin can say to potential ball boys. You can have the privileged of being a ball boy only if you clean the toilets to save us some dosh.

Im told girls toilets last week had no loo roll? Maybe its a case of you must now supply your own. Customer is king. Families dont want to spend time in an environment thats is unclean and unhealthy despite being told to keep believing.

I have bought my season ticket online. It was fine, but how much would that cost? Yes the academy, this has come at the expense of the first team.

I think I am getting this right, our previous owners chose not to invest in the infrastructure, you can only choose if you have an equal playing field. They chose to invest in the first team, ppl primarily come to the ground to watch football. It is like saying I have only enough money to pay for the rent/mortgage or I can pay for a new front door? Sorry but the door will have to be patched up because I need to keep a roof over my head. That’s Hobson’s choice!

IMHO it is better to have sponsors you know will stick around through thick and thin rather than glory sponsors who ditch us the minute things go sour.

I'm think loyal sponsors like TL Callas who have been with club since the dark days.

 

It is going to cost a quarter of million to relay the drains and that’s on top of the new ticketing system revenue is going to be down this year so that plus the much needed investment on youth with top class coaches plus bringing the club facilities in house is a big outlay and good backing and should be applauded

 

Has the investment in youth with top class coaches actually been defined? Because it sounds like hyperbole.

The sorting of the pitch for a quarter of a million is most definitely welcome, nobody will deny that.

 

Look I know they are trying to generate revenue by the above, and I don’t have a problem with any of that. That needs to take place alongside making sure you have a good enough squad to challenge for promotion. We most certainly need investment but not at the expense of the squad.

 

I think your right but we need to take advantage of the fact we have decent attendances so we give the companies Good coverage and with cheap tickets we need all the money we can get

 

There not trying to generate revenue by doing the above . We need to invest in infrastructure to make serious strides getting promoted . A new pitch is as important as a new player

As from where Im sitting crowds are going down, folk are voting with their feet and the believers are dwindling.

In all honesty it would not surprise me in the least if we are told come July, the investment in the pitch has had to be delayed as we want the best surface possible and to achieve this we must wait till an opportunity comes forth where we can gets the best playing surface that money can buy. This will be due to getting better deals in June and we will be ready next year.
