I would never condone or defend racism, there is clearly no need or place in our society for it. However, am I being a bit harsh in thinking some of these players, such as Danny Rose, should get a grip. Raheem Sterling got it right in Montenegro, put on a performance to silence the idiots,.
Cannot imagine Joe Cooke and Ces Podd wingeing like this back in their day.

 

The trouble with racism, which is of course abhorrent, is that it's so easy to lump it in with all the other isms and phobias that bedevil our society. It seems to me that so many people, and particularly the young, are only happy when they're being outraged by something, however trivial and unjustified that might be. If you add the appalling denial of free speech in our universities, no-platforming and the like, as well as people continually looking for an excuse to explain away their lack of success in life then you have a perpetual soundtrack of complaint. Unfortunately, those who suffer racism often find themselves subject to the reaction of many in society who find the moaning tiresome and the moaners spineless snowflakes.

 

yes you are. why should anyone have to put up with being abused due to anything let alone the colour of their skin? they aren't 'whinging' like you put it, they are highlighting an issue that has no place on football or society.

in my opinion it's not really a 'lol' subject but i'm sick and tired of people trying to reduce what it is or that current players are 'whinging', that the young are just outraged by everything, that in the 70's joe cooke and ces podd wouldn't have acted like this or that danny rose and others should just 'get a grip'.

there was a chap on talksport the other day saying danny rose should just hire two security people to walk the streets with him. why should he have to? why can't someone, no matter of race, creed, colour or religion just walk the streets or do their job without having to worry about being abused by someone.

People should be able to go about their everyday life without fear of being abused. But that aint the real world, its way more complicated than that. Comment along the lines of race, religion, sexuality have gone on for hundreds of years, a lot of these comments are because of religion. It really isn’t as easy as just saying racism is racists, i personally wish it was. Just look at the arguments in the houses of Parliament, accusations of islamaphibia, antisemitism. And this is at the heart of politics in this country. Like i said, theres more to it than just calling each other a name.

 

I take great offence to your accusation that my comment had anything to do with the colour of his skin, if one of his white team mates had backed him up with the same comments I would have been of the same opinion. The thread's OP was talking about a specific part of Rose's comments since the game and it was pretty clear my whole post was in relation to his responce to the fine not any other comment he made. He has a right to speak out about racism but with this bit it turns into whining with a massive amount of bragging thrown in. He thinks the Montenegro FA should be punished to the tune of millions for what is a cultural thing that comes about because its a country thats almost exclusively Caucasian. It seems more he want them fined out of existence more for some kind of sense of revenge rather than wanting to improve things because he is targeting a sporting organisation that basically has no ability to make a significant social change and certainly not overnight. We certainly can't hold every nation upto the same standards as we do ourselves as every nation is at a different state of becoming more exposed to and accepting of minorities. These kinds of changes are slow step by step ones, just look at the UK. We are much better than we were in the 70's but its not perfect and its taken like 40 years to get there.

I read it and that was the conclusion I came to. I reported the comment. I’m then presuming some discussion happened between mods and admin and it was decided the post did breach the rules and it was removed.

If it didn’t breach the rules why was it removed? Surely not every post that is reported is removed even if it has t breached any rules.

Only conversation I remember having with him was regarding the prediction game when I asked to be stopped tagged in it as I had stopped doing it. He said he would, I commented if it wasn’t possible as if it was automated then could I just block him. He said no as he was an admin, he stopped tagging me so it wasn’t an issue. Even through that I don’t think there was any hostility.

 

No. It simply stops any discussion, which is why we now live in a world where nobody in public service dare say anything about certain things. It is a form of free speech fascism.

We should all know what does and does not constitute racism and nip it in the bud, but these days a lot of VERY serious things are getting brushed under the carpet due to this climate of fear.

 

I am deeply offended by the term 'non-white'. As a white person I feel it is a slur on me that someone would say they are not like me. It has been designated as an offensive term yet the liberal left continue to use it without repercussions.

I am also offended by the MOBO awards as there no MOWO awards. And I am eternally pi**ed of that many 'non-whites' can dance better than me and run faster.

It is so easy for everyone to be offended over the slightest thing these days.

Any true racism should be punished with a ban or a word from the police (or an arrest), but calling some a whiner is simply an opinion. To some people it might be an offensive opinion, but it is NOT racist. If you prevent opinions you also outlaw free speech and that is very worrying.
