@wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler a spot of mixed wires here I was on about your original post of another potential charge not the Bury incident which like you state it happened during the game.
I was referring to the twitter offence over the weekend .

I'm not in the country but I know Glenn reads this site and will have been following all your views re banning and the like. I will draw to his attention but as I've said on other threads neither of us have a management responsibility, we can only advise/suggest, the rest is up to the permanent staff.

I remember at Burton Albion away a few years ago we were stood in front of someone who spent the entire game yelling racist language at their defender Nathan Stanton.

City have some prize knobs amongst our support.

Sadly, I agree. I had a bloke behind me at Portsmouth who bellowed ‘F...... Black C...’ at one of their players. His Mrs seemed to think it was hilarious.

Great response folks. However, racists are given far too much 'air time' - I sometimes think we need to simply ignore them (but obviously punish)

Like I used to do in the 70's in the school yard

Racism has never ever affected my life or progress - simply because why would such a minority have an influence anyway

Nothing will 'clean up' a fan, who's so immature that they'd do this in the first place. You'll have more chance of getting all crime stopped

I said the same last week, there is too much oxygen of publicity given to them.

The most effective method with racists to laugh at them and then ignore them - they are not going to be educated. Currently society does this 'outraged' thing and then every news media talks about for a few days - meanwhile the idiot if bragging to his mates how famous he/she is

There are idiots everywhere in society and to be honest I don't really understand why clubs should be held responsible.

I agree, and in this instance it happened on Twitter, how can the club he held responsible for a social media platform that they don’t have control over?

The problem society has is this. How you bring your children up matters! If you teach your children tolerance and to embrace differences then racism would die out. I am talking from 0-5 years old! By the time they get to 10, game over. Too late to change thought processes.

One of the best responses i’ve heard, coming from a poster who has had to deal with this. These idiots thrive off the reaction, giving them airtime just inflates their notoriety.
Punish there ingnorance but ignore them.

I agree to a certain extent however I was talking to Roger Owen specifically about the incident he raised, not necessarily the twitter idiot from this weekend although it is related, obviously.

Roger says that a Bury player told the ref he'd been racially abused and the ref included it in his match report. The club were then bound to respond. Roger says that due to some inconsistencies in the ref's report, we were able to 'get away with it' and avoid bad press and presumably a sanction from the FA/FL which would probably be a fine I assume.

Great eh? Well not really. Someone has potentially got away with it. Bad press is negative but also educational and delivers a message that it won't be tolerated. It could even be the same person. Unlikely but it could be.

Ignoring things doesn't make it go away.

Sounds like the idiot sat next to me at Plymouth 2 season's ago with an outburst towards Dom Poleon.
I told him to stop using foul language and if I heard him racially abuse anyone else i'd report him to the steward.
He quickly denied he'd been racist and told me he'd thump me at the end of the game.
He shivered on the final whistle as I stood up and towered over him.
Was he a small fat bloke with a mustache by any chance.

Before DP is hung drawn and quartered.
We need to remember he's been named by a anonymous parady account on twitter.

I remember this lad posting on City forums many years ago, and he was always a character that appeared balanced, considered and fair in what he put.

I'm interested to see the full truth behind this, before I level criticism at him for outrageous tweets.

No tache but quite fat and angry looking. Spent the rest of the first half accusing the stewards of various acts of incest and then buggered off at half time.
