I guess this is in respect to the post made by @SimonW@SimonW? What do you think we should do with people who make a racist comment at a football match or indeed, in society in general?

The post to which you are alluding and which was regarded as offensive has now been removed. It has been dealt with. There is little to be served by continuing to refer to it, however obtuse.

Irrespective of the post itself and just to be clear to everybody, Bantam Talk does not condone racism in any form and racist content is removed from the site as quickly as practicable. If anybody believes that racist comments have been made by other posters, use the Report facility and the content will be reviewed and the appropriate action taken.

I read that post Den, people may not have agreed with it but it certainly wasn't offensive, it was an opinion on Danny Rose's decision to lambast footballs authorities for what Rose perceives to be 'lack of action'. 'Whining bitch' may have been over the top but the post had some merits which were worthy of discussion. Thats the problem with how the the word 'racism', any mention of it and people just lose their shit with actually reading any other correspondence within a post of journalistic content. Shame really.

I agree some of the comments were worthy of discussion but does calling some a whining bitch help the discussion about racism and suggesting that it doesn’t need to be discussed as it doesn’t happen in this country?

I agree but a post that was worthy of discussion (the Danny Rose part was also worthy of this) was deleted because of what? I'd like to know who reported the post and their reasoning behind it. How the hell can we move the discussion on about racism if people are going to report posts because they don't like an opinion.

It is used too widely in my opinion (including on here) without proper regard to its real meaning. In some respects, I put much of the blame on those in responsibility who have failed to act in the past on criminal activities around the country for fear of being accused of racism. It's a perverse argument. Criminal activities are criminal activities irrespective of the background of the alleged perpetrators. And sometimes the pendulum then swings too far the other way to compensate.

Sticking with sport and football in particular, in recent times I believe the British footballing authorities have established a good balance and despite the continuing racism in society, clubs have responded well to the 'kick it out' programmes etc. Clubs are not simply turning a blind eye to it although it is an uphill task as @Storck@Storck 's post demonstrates. It's not long since our own club took action against one of its own employees for making what were considered racist remarks to three of our players. And despite some of the better publicised incidents, I for one don't believe that racism has been removed entirely from the terraces. And having established a better atmosphere in domestic football, the FA is right in my opinion via UEFA and FIFA to expect other footballing authorities to do likewise.

I reported it, not sure if others did also. My reasoning behind reporting it was that @SimonW@SimonW was calling Danny Rose a whining bitch based on the colour of his skin and because he reported a racist incident and then commented on it.

Edit - obviously the decision on what to delete/lock was out of my hands. I do appreciate that it is easier to delete whole posts/lock threads but all it does is move the discussion elsewhere.

The hysterical way some people react to the word 'racism' was a significant factor in allowing the systematic abuse of young white girls by grooming gangs across the large parts of England because of 'fear' of bringing the word racism into the equation. Just let that sink in. Authorities continually turned a blind eye rather than deal with an endemic problem within our society because the word racism has been hijacked, effectively stopping debate and crime reporting stone dead. As you quite rightly say Den, the word is now used to widely without proper regard to its true meaning.

You've taken that remark completely out of context. 'Whining bitch' was a little excessive but i thought he made a fair point. Maybe Danny Rose was taken out of context but him commenting that he can't wait for retirement and that he can't wait to see the back of football to me is a whinge. I'd much rather him have come out and say while this is problem that needs to be dealt with i understand that the vast majority of fans, i guess 99.9%, are fully supportive of me and my career in football and that i won't let the scumbag minority spoil what is a great career for me and other black athletes. Believe me, you can contain what is perceived to be racist but you will never ever stop it, Danny Rose making those comment won't make a blind bit of difference. Its too intrinsically tied into human nature and our history. But thats only my opinion on it.

He can have his views , I have asked him to login as a registered member with a different user name if needs be , but not as an Admin where he is a hired hand to help with forum issues

See, thats what the word Racism does. Bloke has to sign in under a different name if he wants to post on a thread involving racism. I expect you do the same then?

Woah, off your high horse. You maybe admin but reign yourself in.
I'm intelligent to understand the difference between Simon W the administrator and Simon W the forum poster. Asking him post under a different name because he posts opinions that were reported is absurd.

The reason I say a different user name is you cannot have two king karl or rogered tart user names - one as Admin and one as a forum member - this is why I said he may need a different user name not because he needs to hide from any body

That isn’t what the word racism does, it is what racism does.

Calling someone out for the colour of their skin is racist

Its your opinion he's called him out for the colour of his skin, not fact. It depends what context you read his post ( which was unfortunately deleted). In the context i read the post i didn't think he did, although i thought 'whining bitch' a little over the top.

As all things it is opinion but as it has been deleted I can not have been the only person to read it as such otherwise they would have just left it
