Pre season friendlies

No shit Sherlock, been telling you this for ages, the stats i quoted for games since New Year showed how badly our defence was performing. Of the 40 goals we conceded the first 20 were in 25 games, the second 20 were in 12 games. The set up so far looks to be creating goals but as we keep saying new first teamers at the back is a necessity.

 

A good summary and a reason why Bowyer had us near or in the playoffs for so long despite the team and the football being appalling. Teams with consistently good form will outperform those that rely on lucky 1-0 wins all the time.

Yes losing games is not a good habit to get into, I wonder if you and @Feats Don't Fail Me Now would be praising Teflon as @Feats Don't Fail Me Now calls him, if we had won all our preseason games, maybe it would have been no one takes friendlies seriously there for getting players fit yada yada yada.

They've been asset stripped in terms of players over the past month, vultures have been picking the carcass and picked up some right bargains compared to their market value because of Wigans predicament.

I like to give credit where credit is due but since he came back in at the end of January - performances and results plus the transfer window so far, along with some strange quotes coming from the club and McCall hasn't earned him any credit in this spell.. yet.

 

The reality is, we need to strengthen in several positions. A commanding centre back who can organise the back line, a dominant midfielder who can win possession, a mobile striker, another winger, a right back.

I'm glad Stuart is 'relaxed' about recruitment. Let's see if hes relaxed when we're getting beaten by the likes of Harrogate and Barrow.

Not really arsed about morale, especially as we're being reasonably competitive in the games we're playing. If we were getting smashed, itd be a bigger worry. I'm hoping that as we're playing our pre season games against higher division sides, it'll make the league games seem less challenging when they start.

We absolutely still need 3-4 quality players in though.
