    It's been our main problem for the last two seasons, not having a ball winner in midfield will cost us dearly.

    Modern ball winners don't even have to be 'hard men', but they do need energy. Case in point, yesterday's game. In the second half, Huddersfield's young lads all looked quick and strong. No flying tackles, but when they lost the ball we couldn't get away from them because they got all over the pitch. Several of their young lads should be targets for loans; the lad at right-back, Aaron Rowe. Perfect as a right back, can play RWB or even right wing too. Jackson in midfield, was it Brahim as well? full of energy, good on the ball, good awareness. Only a pre-season game and league 2 will be different for them, but unless we add more energy and pace into our side, we'll do nothing.

    A bit of a stretch but case in point is Man City under Pep and Barcelona. They are elite teams and not to compare but even if they lost the ball and couldn’t win it back they would take the foul and then re-group. We are not even cute enough to do that. If we want to play possession football we have to expect to lose it at this level with our quality so we have to be cuter with that side of our game

    absolutely right mate, it scares me that given the position stu played in his own career he doesn't seem to be addressing it.

    being a good athlete and positioning yourself well on the pitch would do as much as being a hard nut in today's game. what I'd give for someone like Josh Cullen again, he was so good at keeping us ticking over and recycling the ball

    Believe Stuart said we were having another game on Sat to get minutes into the players who havent played a full 90 yet. Will probably be a behind closed doors game against a non-league side.

    There was an interview with Gerrard a while back, and he was asked who is the "hardest" player he's played against. He named Keane and Vierra etc, but he said the hardest player he every played against, was Lampard. He said its not cos he was hard in the "hard" sense, but hard due to the fact that he was non stop running and box to box for ninety minutes. Trying to keep up with him and get away from him, Gerrard said, was nigh on impossible. Massive words from someone as great as Gerrard.
