He was a bad appointment, but Todd should never have been sacked. Simply he thought he was helping. No different to Shearer when he took the job at Newcastle and they got relegated. If a manager is hired who is out of their depth the one doing the hiring has to be held accountable, as you say Julian.

Well, certainly in the case of somebody like Hope Akpan...

"But he played in the Championship" doesn't really matter when he's getting relegated every season and failing to win a single midfield battle!

Sometimes we really should avoid signing perennial losers!

We've signed more shite than quality every level we've been at, pretty much every year for the last 20. Bar maybe 2 or 3. We've been a shambolically run club for years.

Really? Every team signs duds. But only those who consistently sign more garbage than quality are those who continue to regress. I think you'd have to go some, to find a club whose recruitment performance has been as bad as ours- consistently, over a similar period.

We're a poorly run club, top down. And have been for a long while.

I'd say a high percentage of ALL signings are duds. How can it not be when 11 players play, but squad size is way higher. Most players don't play.

It isn't important how many ineffective, non-starting, or outright poor players a club signs. It's important how good their better/first choice signings are.

33 years ago we signed paul tomlinson for £47k. I bet we've we have signed a only handful of players for more than that in the last 10 years.

We now have become a landing pit for players that nobody wants. Thats whats needed to change, we need to take players off clubs not drag them from the shitpool.

Prior to the ITV Sport crash, everybody signed players for fees. Literally every team paid money for players.

I'm just saying you've way too far back there.

Hes right though. It's not about the fee element, we've become a dumping ground, or a centre for has beens. Our recruitment is shocking.

Under Parky, a 35 year old bald guy from Rochdale was the perfect signing because he perfectly suited what PP was building. A string of low scoring, hard working forwards complimented the style he played, and contributed to the success of the team.

    All underwhelming on paper.

Since then, we haven't had the same success because we've bounced idiotically from one manager with one style to another with contrasting preferences and never really maximised the potential of a transfer window because we sack and replace AFTER they've shut.

Rahic is largely responsible for that, though we fell into the same trap when replacing Bowyer with McCall.

Going forward we need to be less myopic and work towards a common style and a common goal. Post-Stuart, we need a manager who can pick up from where he leaves off, and not try to reinvent everything in the minimum amount of time with a minimum number of changes.

Of course we've been all over the place in terms of recruitment, we've been all over the place as a club in terms of coaches and overall philosophy.

No argument. And if I recall, most were happy with the signing of Jones.

Devitt was a loan though. We've had far worse than him.

    Too young for Hopkin.

Shay cost 250k and was a massive let down.
