To have our club go into administration again, I would have thought that would be a disaster not worth contemplating.

Lee. Can also add Claridge onto that list. What about Danny Cadamateri. Also came with a reputation.

Not only from the footballing side but most (I wont say all) of all the feel good factor, that we has as fans we knew exactly where we stood both on the field and off it.
Many have criticised our last owners but they were as open as they could be telling us we would carry a deficit and if we couldnt cover it with a cup run we would have to sell , we all thought at the time Rack & Ruin were the guys to take us to the next level even saying so themselves.
IMO only one word for their purchase of our club "disaster" yes hindsight is a wonderful thing :(.

Another strange one @TallinnBantam@TallinnBantam, Claridge scored goals where ever he played.....except for us.

He played every minute of the first season in the prem helping along O’Brien. And a big reason we survived

Ok, so he has 3 relegations and a “near miss” on his CV.

    Doesn’t change anything.

Are you suggesting they were his fault? I’d suggest admins, having to play players nowhere near the league we were in standard were far bigger reasons. Go look at the squads that got relegated and the crap managers we had, that tells the real story. He was very good when we had a good team, like anyone else struggled more in appalling teams, wouldn’t expect anything else. To put blame at his door unless you don’t know the history of that era is bizarre imo.

Well actually, if you look at his wiki page, he'd scored four goals for the past six teams he'd played for before joining us. Then he scored a total of thirteen goals for the next eight clubs he played for - and that included five for us. 256 goals in 829 total career appearances. Proper journeyman striker, with just a few seasons of being prolific. I heard he was more interested in following the horses instead of training when he was with us (and probably a lot of other teams too).

If it got Rupp out of the club it might be worth carefully considering. Otherwise we're just dying a slow death where even the most optimistic outcome is treading water.

Having no club because we want Rupp out is not worth considering, happy if we have a suitor interested in buying the club.

Nobody mentioned not having a club. I honestly don't think it would come to that but if Rupp isn't replaced soon then it may well become a distinct possibility.

Each to their own. I saw 90% of the games Wetherall played in home and away, so I formed an opinion based on what I saw.

If you read the post again where does it say I blame him personally?

However, his CV still reads 3 relegations.

The myth of Wetherall remains strong in some.

That's what I was suggesting with regards the alternative in my original reply to @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart, I've heard the rumours doing the rounds but not sure I believe any, I'm delighted Rupp is still funding us.

I don’t class him as a legend, but to even mention the relegations lays some blame at his door and look at the teams he played in, in another team he just wouldn’t have got them. This is a worst player thread, I’d be surprised if anyone baring yourself who watched him all those years would put him in the list you have, each to their own I guess. He was worth plenty for his goal against Liverpool alone.

Well if we’d been promoted everyone would say he was part of a team that got promoted 3 times. No different then if you’re relegated.

Maybe I’m spoilt, I started going to City with my dad in the 84-85 season so saw what real heroes were. This was repeated in the 98-99 promotion season. That’s a bunch of players I regard as quality.

Unfortunately I’m not one who is happy with mediocrity which is a trait of most City fans. Accepting failure is another. For all his critics I can see where Fordy comes from a lot of the time.

Wetherall played for City for 8 years. Our slide down the leagues was frighteningly bad. He was a part of it regardless of whatever else was going on. I can’t name any other player with 3 relegations on his CV whilst at City.

So if he’s left at the time of first admin he wouldn’t make the biggest pound for pound let down list?

Or if he’d gone to Man City like he was so desperate to do. If he’d have left as a 2nd tier player (whatever the championship was called back then) he wouldn’t have excelled himself with 2 further relegations.
