Apparently we should be thanking Rupp for keeping us afloat in these difficult times...

Has to be Ashley Ward the guy missed so many chances he could give Donaldson a run for his money

'Robert Zabica: So-Called Keeper' sounds like a wacky character from the kids show Zzzap!

No Maclean? I know Ward was bad, but no way as bad as Maclean, surely.

There is a bit of a myth with Zabica though. He made his debut in a game away at Reading (which was the day before Princess Diana died for those who like random info). We won 3-0 and played very well, Zabica included. Unfortunately for him, only 500-600 City fans were there to see it.

On the Tuesday we beat Town away 2-1. Edinho and Blake scored. Again, Zabica has a steady game. 4,500 City fans saw it.

Zabica’s nightmare came on the Friday versus Sunderland. A long range Micky Gray shot squirmed through his hands. His confidence zapped immediately. We lost 0-4, though to be fair Sunderland scoring 4 at Valley Parade was the norm for years. Thats the only game anyone remembers.

At the time we also had Mark Prudhoe who had come with a decent reputation from his time at Stoke but looked small for a goalie. I thought he was shite. In the players bat after the Sunderland game a couple of the head stewards who I knew at the time were talking to him. As a Geordie he wasn’t happy we’d been hammered by the Makems, but in his words “at least I’ll be back in the team”. Not exactly supportive of a team mate. He’d been in a sulk at being dropped by Kamara.

not long after Gary Walsh appeared. Still my favourite City keeper.

I always liked Prudhoe, but I was a kid at the time and used to get his autograph before most games and he'd do his Russ Abbott bit so I may be biased! I do remember one particular 0-0 draw with Birmingham he must have made a dozen great saves... most entertaining nil-nil I've seen that I reckon

Forgot about Hopkin! Probably traumatised after his management spell.

For me we have an almost endless list of wasters.

    1) David Hopkin - not his fault he got his injury at Darlo in the cup but even prior to that he didn’t look fit.

    2) Petrescu - looked interested when we played Chelsea and beat them. Other than that from what I heard he had a problem with absolutely everything to do with the club.

    3) Wetherall - seems to have a big fan club at City. Never understood it. A very average player who joined us in the premier league and left us as a league 2 club. How anybody who played their part on 3 relegations can be seen as a hero is totally beyond me. People also conveniently forget that he was desperate for a move to Man City at one point which only collapsed due to a failed medical. This also meant he was unlikely to pass a medical anywhere else. People seem to confuse that with him being loyal for staying. We should’ve kept Darren Moore.

    4) Ward. Not fit to pace Lee Mills boots. To think we shipped Mills out and brought in Ward still leaves me with a shudder.

    5) Rankine - word has it that we were actually offered him on loan. Richmond thought he’d be an investment so asked for a price for a permanent. He’d talked it over with Jewell. Jewell reckoned £100k top. A day later Richmond calls him tells him he’s agreed a million. Jewell thought he was joking.

    6) Akpan. Never have I seen a player think he’s Yaya Toure but actually play more like Darren Morgan. The most lightweight “big lad” I’ve ever seen.

    7) Adcock - class goal on his debut. Shite after that.

    8) Aizlewood - another played scum took the piss out of us with.

I thought the way Terry Yorath perused Aizlewood he would be the main man, how wrong could we be, I believe it was Aizlewoods personal terms that took so long sorting as he wanted a club car I believe in the end he got one.

Beat me to it above but Rupp and Rahic are the absolute #1 let downs for me. Promised us Championship football and PL in 5 year and then turned us into banter fc who dont even have a scouting team, whilst trying to gaslight everyone into thinking everything's going well. Actually if anyone speaks to the club in any capacity like a fans forum or something, can they ask them where we are in the 5 year plan at the moment?

In the context of the post it was a response to, it would be not keeping afloat.
