I haven’t voted as there isn’t an option saying it is upto the players

I voted not sure in lieu of that option being available. What the players choose to do is entirely a matter for them, and if they want to continue, I'm fully supportive. Equally, if they don't want to continue because they feel it's run it's course then that's fine as well. I think part of the message itself is about listening to and valuing people of colour more in society, so letting players who are minorities take the lead seems the most sensible course to me.

To be fair a lot of stuff you've posted i agree with. Lets get this clear, i find racism abhorent but i think a lot of unnecessary stuff gets dragged into the debate, not just on here but the debate in general. Take away the obvious abuse of skin colour, then the debate becomes more unclear. Things like religions that dictate a different way of life to what we are used to lead to misconceptions that get mistaken for racism. The colour of skin is an easier one to deal with, it literally is black and white, the deeper problems within society such as the religious connotations are much harder to tackle.

The one thing we can all agree on is that racism is wrong, even racists know that. However what is perceived as racism and how it should be dealt with will always stir up debate.

A classic case in point today, whether Gavin Williamson is racist for getting two black sportstars mixed up when being interviewed. David Lammy couldn't wait to throw the colour of their skin into the mix, and I knew James OBrien couldn't resist talking about it today, desperately telling everyone he thinks Williamson isn't racist but pushing the narrative the other way against any caller who rings up to say he isn't racist. We want racism to 'go away', it will never be allowed to.

Well we can rest assured Williamson is a bit of a plonker so probably harmless but yet another daft mistake by the worst education secretary in history

As well as the reasons already mentioned for players taking the knee. The fact a simple gesture really boils the piss of certain folk, I find immensely pleasing.

It was never about you - it was the most effective method at the time to highlight the issue, one you appear to think doesn’t exist (or at least doesn’t require a gesture like this).

It was effective in the sense that it got the subject in the public domain and consciousness far better than Kick it Out - as admirable a cause as that is - ever did. The KIO lead admitted as much. Yes it caused strong debate. Good - I’d say that was the point.

The fact you didn’t like it & determined it to be ‘wokery’ and ‘virtue signalling’ says more about you than them - it was a completely non threatening gesture to highlight an issue that otherwise wasn’t at the forefront of the public’s mind, despite what happened (for example) at the end of the Euros last year.

Do you mind when players wear rainbow laces or the rainbow captain’s armband, or wear the KIO T shirts? No - because you can ignore that. You couldn’t ignore this as easily (and clearly didn’t given your comments). And that was the point.

Probably have to delay kick off for 10 minutes while our little darlings fulfill all their virtue signalling obligations ....

Incredibly Iran get a much softer penalty. If thats a penalty there would be 10 a game in a typical league 2 game.

Why should players stop taking the knee just because people don't want to acknowledge that they are booing a protest against racism? The people who are booing are either racist or too stubborn to admit they are wrong despite being told by so many players and managers it's got nothing to do with politics.
Taking the knee has done more in just over 12 months than any warm up t-shirt ever did for highlighting the issues of racism and starting conversations about it

The players are making a stand against racism and showing that they are all united against racism, why would anyone boo that sentiment? If one of our players announced he was part of the LGBT community would you boo his team mates for making a similar gesture?
And before someone jumps in with the history of knee taking in the USA and its links to black supremacist organisations.........please give your heads a shake, in the UK, at football it’s an innocent gesture to highlight problems in society.
So does booing make you racist? I’ll let others decide that one, however it doesn’t suggest that your not!

Only to those wanting to connect it. BLM used it because the Amercian Footballers used it and it gained publicity from there

And so did loads of other people, so what gives ownership to one group over another unless you are making a connection just to be against the stand

The fact people are talking about shows it’s working . How can a couple of seconds of knee bend upset anyone on the other hand it keeps the battle against racism to the fore

I have thank you. I won't begin to argue with you about valid research findings or the interpretation of statistics.
