Following Hungary fans’ showing last night, and a few English clubs / players declaring they are no longer taking the knee (Brentford, QPR, Millwall, Zaha, the Lincoln player on Tuesday night etc), would be interesting to see what our general stance on this is as a collective.

Whilst I would never boo the players for doing so, I really think it has run its course and needs to stop now.

Could not care one little bit what they do. Same with England players etc. If they want to do it and see it as a way to make a point then so be it.
Why everyone is so worked up about it is baffling. It’s a players choice, leave them be and enjoy the game.

Sick of having Racism rammed down my throat.
It will never stop and taking the knee just fuels the fire of the far right.

If it makes them feel better then crack on. I agree with your sentiment, it makes no difference to me what they do.

Then it is up to those of us who are not far right or Tories to continue to bang the anti racism drum. Nobody would boo supporting say gender equality.

As for taking the knee, it’s individual choice and doesn’t bother me one bit, in fact if it upsets people who don’t know the difference between should of and should have, let it continue.

If you ask me does it make a difference I would say not really but as long as it’s not causing harm it’s ok.

I contacted the T&A (the editor and Simon Parker) asking them if they would run an article on it, contacting the club to ask what their stance on it was.

This season especially, when we have a new Manager and players, surely the club do not want this divide between fans to players and player to player which may disrupt a promotion push. Also to undo all the good work that Ryan Sparks is doing.

Already at home games (and away) we hear boo's, fans turning their backs to the players and of course fans applauding as is their right.
Time the club spoke out in order to get everyone onside in this respect, not divided and this is why taking the knee at VP should stop.
The T&A and Simon Parker haven't even had the decency to reply to me.

    Are you reading this SP????

Don't care one way or another. Gesture politics won't change the hideous world we live in. Build more prisons, stop trying to rehabilitate criminals and stick everyone who commits three prisonable offences away for life would though.

Why should players stop taking the knee just because people don't want to acknowledge that they are booing a protest against racism? The people who are booing are either racist or too stubborn to admit they are wrong despite being told by so many players and managers it's got nothing to do with politics.
Taking the knee has done more in just over 12 months than any warm up t-shirt ever did for highlighting the issues of racism and starting conversations about it

I have no problem with players taking the knee but i question just how much difference has been made by taking the knee. Racism was around a long time before the knee was taken and will be around a long time after the gesture has outlived its novelty. And because you'll never eliminate racism in society the powers that be seem unsure as to whether to end the gesture or not so its easier to just keep doing it. That said, it makes no difference to me personally what they do. But for all the gestures posteuring, it didn't seem to sway the Hungarian fans.

I respect your opinion on this Birky, also everyone elses, I hope that people can equally accept mine.

I have to say that taking the knee in UK football did not happen until the George Floyd affair along with the BLM riots in the UK when our historic statues were damaged and our National Flag was burnt - in front of our Police force who not only stood back but some also took the knee to the offenders.
SKY Sports commentators (Tyler & Neville for two) stated that taking the knee was "in support of the Black Lives Matter movement"
We also had the BLM banner pushed across the screens at any opportunity.

This gesture was then conveniently changed when fans protested to "against racism" when there is already the"Kick It Out" campaign.

We all want an end to racism but players and clubs must find another way to protest.
Why not take the knee at the end of the game and those that want to applaud can stay back and do so.
    I wonder how many will?

Unfortunately there are swathes of people in society who lack the self awareness to combat this. Until that changes this will just go on and on and on.

What would be the point of taking the game when a lot of people have already left. Racists will always find a way of justifying their racism

Nobody has ever said it would stop racism by itself but it's the players doing what they can, it's up to the other people in power to take the action that will prompt change
