Tony, respect for putting your name on all your posts including any posts outside this thread/debate, but I really do think you need to go on some sort of racial awareness learning just to open your mind up a bit here and provoke some different alternate perspectives.

Unfortunately you won’t see it that way, ‘do-gooding, political’ , the ridiculous Southgate comment gave the game away mate I’m sad to say.

It winds me up this when all I see is a small and for the vast majority a quite innocent gesture against racism. I now feel stronger that they should KEEP doing it.

I still go back to my original comments which I have stood by since the players started to take the knee.

If the players felt so strongly about taking the knee they would have done so long before BLM came on the scene last year and started to do so. The FL and PL then claim the two aren't linked yet players say otherwise and wore BLM Logos so clearly someone is telling lies.

If the players had been doing so this discussion wouldn't have even got off the ground nor if they had made a alternative gesture that's the simple fact no matter how anyone wishes to dress it up differently.

As I have said before I do not agree with the abuse Rashford Saka and Sancho received nor that of monkey chants etc but the taking of knee is something I can or will never understand, it has divided fans more than any other racism gesture in the past and for me that tells you all you need to know that it isn't working.

If the FL/PL were to find another gesture I bet within weeks the boos will have long gone but the more they carry on you will still hear the boos.

And for the record I have never booed however I have turned my back on the gesture and will continue to do so.

I ask posters go look at this posters post on the matter and not come away from it that it was a just a nasty rant about white, male and something to do with Brexit.

I have no understanding of his wife’s racism, are you f- ing kidding me pal,I live in inner city Bradford and the numerous racist abuse/attacks on me and my family over the years have hit hard.

I belittle no one when it comes to racism but I do have a understanding what’s it like to go through and how it affects you.

Stop the lying on me suggesting that it was non issue ,I posted only when you went on the nasty rant when you was supposed to be anti-racist.

If the title of this thread was what's your stance on kicking racism out of football, or standing together against racism.
I guarantee 100%, that every reply to it would have been in full support of such campaigns.
    As racial prejudice abhors everybody

However, the question was about taking the knee, and you can tell by the responses how it divides people.
    Not good at all.

The one thing we can all agree on is that racism is wrong, even racists know that. However what is perceived as racism and how it should be dealt with will always stir up debate.

I do not mind them taking the knee if they feel better for it, It will of course sadly mean nothing, It is just a gesture

A classic case in point today, whether Gavin Williamson is racist for getting two black sportstars mixed up when being interviewed. David Lammy couldn't wait to throw the colour of their skin into the mix, and I knew James OBrien couldn't resist talking about it today, desperately telling everyone he thinks Williamson isn't racist but pushing the narrative the other way against any caller who rings up to say he isn't racist. We want racism to 'go away', it will never be allowed to.

Well we can rest assured Williamson is a bit of a plonker so probably harmless but yet another daft mistake by the worst education secretary in history

'If the FL/PL were to find another gesture I bet within weeks the boos will have long gone but the more they carry on you will still hear the boos.'

Yep, we should go back to the stand up to racism thing we did last year... whilst some people genuinely believe taking the knee is a Marxist gesture, despite everyone doing so telling them till they're blue in the face it's not, there's also a lot of people for whom it's a very convenient cover to allow them to boo black players for the first time in decades. Take away any possibility of people being able to claim it's anything other than an anti-racism thing, whether they're doing it genuinely or disingenuously, and it will stop because at heart racists are cowards and they won't do it without the cover of plausible deniability, this knee thing is giving them a field day

I'd like them to change the gesture just to prove whether or not people are really offended by BLM and Marxism lol I bet some will complain no matter what and still deny they have a flaw in their character

Exactly if they decided to sit down there would still be complaints just like there was when the rainbow flag was flown

Yeah you will still get people still going 'I'm sick of it being shoved in my face' or whatever, though it should stop the booing, but we've basically just had 27 pages of 'yes it is marxist' 'no, it obviously isn't marxist' and at least it will put an end to that!

It should come as no surprise to anybody that some people are simply racist and that even includes football fans! They may not visit VP in flowing white robes with a pointed hat on or a bomber jacket with EDL emblazoned on it but there is that undercurrent of racist behaviour which remains widespread in our country. A racist outlook is often just below the surface for these. They may not boo the taking of the knee gesture when on their own but then feel emboldened to do so when in a group of the like minded.

I really hope that people in privileged positions continue to shine a light on racism through their actions in front of TV cameras. It might just make all of us think and maybe stop some making childish comments about the issue.

If it fuels the fire of the far right, it shows how petty they are. It is generational and unlikely to stop right away, but the fact we are talking about it keeps it at the for front of people's minds as opposed to something which can be conveniently forgot about like the T shirts etc. Its good that people know its unacceptable.

The point which you are clearly missing is one although I personally haven't booed is that booing itself it's not racist in anyway shape of form but a way of disapproval of what someone is seeing in front them.

When a ref makes a bad decision fans boo a player fakes a injury fans boo a goalkeeper taking a long time on a goal kick fans boo. Do we then claim the fans are racist especially if that player or ref is black?

Apart from a few idiots ( you always get some sadly) nearly everyone condemned the abuse Rashford Sancho and Saka recieved and rightly so but taking the knee is something totally different and if you read my previous comments you will see my overall thoughts.
