Huddersfield have a further years option on Payne.

Hope this is right, not sure I 100% interpreted it as that, just thought he meant they were doing well but hope so. Realistically Wagner won't be watching them they'll have development managers and scouts I should imagine, more for O'Brien than Payne i bet as I don't think Payne will be there at the start of next season.

Wagner will have found out a lot more about his players playing in a team facing such adversity than mid table obscurity. Especially as Huddersfield if they stay in the Prem will always be up against it

    But haven't taken it.

And it doesn't matter anyway. If a decent offer comes in then they will sell.

They'll get more if they add 12 months to his contract. (They can still take it). They did the same with Hiwula.

If they don’t take it then he will hold out for a better pay offer in the summer

They are better off selling with a large sell on as with parachute payments they will be dealing with a higher quality player

I think Leeds are universally hated or at the very least disliked. It goes back to the horrible bastards under Revie, and that's just the players. Many Bradford folk went to watch them too rather than support City or Avenue which didn't go down well with City and Avenue fans

To this day, they have never been able to shake off the dirty Leeds tag

Were you at Odsal that mad day with the Chip van incident?. To this day they still have a large number of unpleasant and unfriendly fans who think they are champions of Europe.

Kevin Gray incident apart, never had a problem with Huddersfield fans or their club to be honest.

I grew up down south in the 60s & 70s and Leeds were universally despised under Revie, in a way that no other top northern teams were. I've never lost that dislike of Leeds Utd and becoming an adopted City fan certainly hasn't diminished it.

Hatred of Revie became even worse during his period as England manager, when he consistently overlooked fantastic flair players like Hoddle, Hudson, Curry, Worthington and Brooking in favour of cloggers like Hunter and Storey.

For me personally I dislike Huddersfield more than Leeds mainly because since 79 when i started watching city as a kid we have played them more often although tbh I don't care what they do I care what city do.

it's the fans. They have a higher percentage of deviants who are up for trouble than most. similar to millwall. It's like their reputation molds them

Agree with your view. Never had any trouble going to the kennels, always find it funny that their hard core fans have to sit on the side of the stadium and did not occupy a ‘home end’!

As for Leeds as has been said before, up to the late 80’s the amount of people who supported Leeds was very notable. Shipley had a significant number went to LS11. However the Odsal incident and a shift in football culture, which saw supporters in the main turn away from accepting violence, saw the ‘marching on together’ mindset, becoming universally despised and viewed as a type of Neanderthal behaviour.

    (Perhaps harsh on Neanderthals!)

My understanding was that a lot of Avenue fans went Leeds way and that was part of it. Avenue were the original rivals and couldntvstomach supporting City when their team folded. Re Huddersfield, said it before but wasnt there the City Gentsatire of Roy of the Rovers with the star playjng for the fictional Bradhuddersfax Town?

Get that but he will be sold if a decent offer comes in Jan.

He isn't that important to them long term.

As I mentioned, Leeds were particularly unpleasant in the 80’s and I get that but having many Leeds friends, they can’t understand the hatred towards Leeds. I’m personally in the hating hudders camp, horrible lot who revelled for years in the breaking of Watson’s leg.
