I do think we are getting our city back. Slowly, but any progress is good progress! It's good to see some dialogue from the club, stating we do have announcements regarding players/kit but now is not the time. I think we do have to remember these things take time!

With the relegation clauses in the players contracts it may help move some on to other clubs who will much more be able to match the wages and some players may move to div one clubs for less rather than play in div 2, I think GB may be able to move half a dozen onward freeing up more money

£2.6m is higher than our first season back in League One (£2.5m) and £100k lower than the season after (14/15). Given the FA grant decreases by circa £400k, it’s a decent budget for L2.
Remember, going back to L2 days of yesteryear, two of our largest playing budgets were £1.8m (loan from ML) in 08/09 and the highest being the promotion and cup exploits season at £2.1m.
Draw up your comparisons.rmbenson007, Stoneski and Gardscoigne like this. -
Quality is needed with that budget.
Even if no one leaves, with £1m left to use, you can add 5 or 6 real quality players at L2 level with that. And 5 or 6 of those quality players would make the world of difference to this squad.
Despite the problems, with a budget like that (and some players will still leave), we have to be aiming top 3 without doubt.WilsdenBantam, Silverbantam and Bradford End like this. -

I've read the WOAP write up twice now - Yesterday, and today.
Whilst nothing is conclusive, we can't dismiss that progress in terms of commitment on and off the pitch, making communication with the fans is key, and suggested as such.
I applaud that further 'open meetings' will take place, and also hope they are just as open.
But for the NOW, and 'we must' view issues of many fans - We all, collectively, should hold an element of trust, as well as any such commitments for more than just the forthcoming season.
'When failed in a sculpture, the Potter does not have to change the whole Clay mix, to make amends'. City, and its support base, would be well served to remember that.
For all there may be tough times ahead, there are also some good times to be anticipated .......... Let's get the latter in motion, now. The Club and supporters together can achieve such things, jointly.
Until the August KO, none of us actually know who our playing staff will be, so lets be patient, and hold some realistic point of perspective, until then.Stop hovering to collapse... I think it is ok to release the playing budget. Agents can then be more realistic in their approaches to the club offering their players. Plus GB is fully aware of what the going price is. Furthermore, what none of us know is how much will be available to GB when players currently under contract leave.

Thank you for that information a good article. But I do think the clubs PR team need to push along maintaining and boosting the clubs image with fans and the general public.Just keeping us updated through the media along with social networking is the least we deserve.

If we have £1m budget left for next season that equates to 9 players on an average of £2,137 a week.

Another interesting thing in this article is that no player has a relegation get out clause but a proportion have a pay cut for relegation.
On Twitter yesterday Posh chairman said he refused to sign Eoin Doyle last summer due to his high wage demands !! Hopefully he will have had a pay cut.bantamdave41 and Onside like this. -

good budget, hopefully can shift Scannel, Doyle and Riley - even with potential relegation drops I imagine we'd be talking about £800k back in the budget - wouldn't surprise me if they accounted for close to half.
Wonder if the Reeves truth will come out? Also disapointing the Robinson situation is taking so long, due process is needed but it's been a bloody long timermbenson007 and RonnieBrown like this. -

I don't expect Robinson to feature for us in the immediate future. But if Reeves comes back and is physically and mentally fit, then he'd be a good asset in League 2.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Hulmebantam and Onside like this. -

Or what would £2.1m get you 6 years on?
After considering inflation ( 30% in the 10 years from 08 to 18, 11.6% in the last 6 years), increasing agent rights and the general increase in efl wages (Morecambe spent £1.93m in 2016/17 in league 2), I feel its far too simplistic to say here's what we spent in the past and here's what our budget is now.
