the current lot are so incompetent i would rather we got blair back in, even that would be a much better choice than the economic lunacy we're being promised by the current set of candidates. they will bankrupt this country for all of us and we need the conservatives out as soon as possible.

Why are they having a debate on Channel 4. It's not exactly Tory central.

I picture their viewers sat watching this shouting Tory Scum at the TV.

Tugendhat winning this debate hands down for me so far. Very composed and measured. Totally opposite to that slimeball Sunak who has done nothing but attack the others

I thought he was excellent but sadly he'll never make the top two. I also thought Truss and Sunak came across terribly.

Mordaunt and Tugendhat would be my picks, but it's going to be Mordaunt and Sunak.

I thought Kemi Badenoch came across well in the bit I saw. Truss just reminds me of May. Other two just didn't get anything from them

    Tugenhadt seems the most human...

Sunak the least... I mean the guys worth £730m Evrything seems so staged, so fake, so orchestrated...

Sunak would be worse than having Boris...This country really doesn’t need Sunak. The Blues don’t need him. No way someone worth £730m get on same page as the normal Jo public.

Thought they all came over as bad as each other but did notice that the presenter constantly talked over Sunak responses but not the others very much,

Does anyone actually watch these TV debates?

It would be much better if they put each of them on the Cube or on the Chase instead.

Seeing as though Liz Truss stuggled to find her way out of a room with 1 door, I'm not sure she'd fair well on the Cube.

we've been in a mess for 12 years. 12 years of low tax light touch regulatory environments have left us with a broken economy and a higher national debt than ever. sunak has contributed to this but it is the fault of the conservative party as a whole for repeatedly foisting fantasy economics on the country and making us all poorer rather than any one individual.

Exactly. Low taxation supposedly fostering investment and entrepreneurship. Where is the investment? It's all squirreled away offshore, not invested here.

Ten years pre-pandemic of slashing the public sector to 'free up 'the private sector to drive us forward and grow the economy. Except we've stagnated or gone backwards.

Privatising everything to 'improve efficiency'. Except our essential services are collapsing while private companies take profits and cut front line service standards.

The whole Tory Party is living in Dreamland, far removed from the experiences and needs of ordinary people. The levelling up agenda is dead in the water. No way can it be funded while those five jokers are in a Dutch auction to cut taxes, to please the small number of old, southern, affluent members that will eventually vote one of them into power.

Not to mention the £35 billion that Johnson & Sunak handed to their mates to provide totally useless test, track & trace services.
