Yes I saw your previous post.

I come past there on a night at weekends fairly regularly and it always seems to have a fair few cars outside.
Not so sure about weekdays though.

Along with ‘competence’ and ‘honesty’ - these are traits sadly lacking in our Clowncil.

    Exactly.
All the same ones that were available when the bulls regularly attracted similar attendances (albeit a few years ago) to ours.
With,I suspect an even worse public transport system than there is now.
All yours and the ones I quoted are on,or are very close to main arterial bus routes.Manchester rd,Halifax rd,Rooley ave,St Enochs.

Whilst not a drinker,I was brought up 2 streets from the Craven Heifer and have attended enough events at Odsal(football, rugby, speedway, stock cars, firework displays) and walked past a few pubs to know that it’s had it’s fair share of decent attendances over the years and I presume this was from the whole of Bradford and not just the immediate area surrounding the stadium.
I will add I think the actual stadium is cold and unwelcoming tip that should have been filled in years ago but that’s not the discussion we are having.
This is based round a new stadium.

I went to every single one of those “away” home games and by a country mile Odsal was a s…hole beyond compare. Parking was garbage, I worked in Halifax at the time and lived in BD2, got stuck in an official car park , sorry old field , twice and drowned as a rat twice. Can we please drop this fantasy. It’s in the wrong location except for away fans, it’s a nightmare in bad weather, transport links from Town are dire and by train coming from anywhere except West of Bradford and even then it’s a hike! That’s without discussing the cost !

So I live in Baildon , no car , what time do I set off if I want a pint in the Dog and Gun before a 7.45 kick off. I finish work at 1730 in Keighley.

Your call, it’s not doable Dave and then let’s recognise the problem?

Purely on the actual location alone, then from a selfish point of view, it would suit me, it would be a shorter journey, less miles and a reduced journey time, as I come across the M62. However it isn't about what is convenient for me, but what meets the needs of the majority of the City support.
Odsal is perched on the top of a ridge, around 700 foot above sea level, which is 150 foot higher than West Brom and 175 foot higher than Oldham.
It always strikes me as a bleak and forlorn place.
I would be concerned about the amount of parking. It is further from bus and train transport hubs,
Although there are several pubs, many of them sell a poor range of keg only drinks. Apparently only Top House, Hoopers (micro pub), Market tavern, and Chapel House serve any real ale, up to around half a mile from the ground.
The stadium is built on a former quarry/rubbish tip, you wonder about the cost of groundwork required to allow the construction of a modern stadium with all the infrastructure.
I can’t see it having a retractable roof, so anyone going will be exposed to the elements. When the Bulls were based there, they usually played from March to September, not a Tuesday night in November, December, January or February.
So unless an absolute fortune was spent on the venue, it is an absolute no from my perspective.

    Ok.Same argument.
I live in Rastrick.(Brighouse) No car. What time do I set off if I want a Coke in the Barracks tavern on lumb lane before a 7.45 kick off? I finish work in Huddersfield at 17.30.
    I’ll answer it for you-
I will either work out a way to get to the match or I won’t.That’s what thousands of supporters do every midweek and weekend.
An argument can be found for every scenario.

Like you and many others I attended all the games at Odsal. I even discharged myself from hospital a day early to go to a Friday evening game.
I agree entirely with you that it’s a shithole and should be filled in.But this is all about if a NEW stadium is built.
It’s clearly never gonna happen because If a new stadium was ever going to be built there it would have been done by now.
That’s solely down to the various leaders of a completely apathetic council who have dithered over various schemes that would benefit the city.
Any new stadium built will have its critics based on there own personal reasons.
The main gripes about transport and available refreshments are always trotted out but I think the
main reason for many fans will (and always should be) “it’s not VP”

I wouldn't call having a pre game drink before a midweek game a necessity and with regards your hypothetical situation a decision would have to be made one way or the other.
I'm not sure what living in Baildon has to do with the situation Kevin, if you have no transport and are coming from work in Keighley and not finishing till 17:30, no doubt having no transport makes it difficult.
If we were to build a new stadium and the chosen venue was at Odsal, because Citys fans finds it hard to have a pre match drink that would be a major concern with regards where the new stadium was built, I'd think it would be because of limited space within the Bradford area.
I'm sure there are City fans who don't have transport and attend midweek games coming directly from their place of work, that's a call they have to make, beer or no beer before the game.
But my reply was with regards limited drinking establishments in and around Odsal.

If Odsal was the chosen venue as @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart says it would be a new stadium with all the benefits that go with it, there's plenty of parking around Odsal much more than ValleyParade and IMO far safer parking, Richard Dunns itself can accomadate 100s of cars as the outside all weather pitches would be used as they are for Sunday "car boot sales" then behind the stadium there is car parking and if it was a new stadium even more land fill could be up dated for parking.
Sorry to say but with regards beer your nit picking mate not everyone wants CAMERA Ales a couple of pints of whatever is on offer usually suffices most drinkers.
If we ever got to situation where 20/25,000 were attending games on a regular basis busses could be put on across the road at Richard Dunns just as they were during the heady days of Premiership football at Valley Parade.

If we are talking about rebuilding Odsal surely it can not be reliant on Richard Dunn site just staying as is. The council are actively looking at ways to redevelop it, so I don't think you should include any use of the all weather pitches etc as they are unlikely to be still there in 5-7 years time which is the time scales we would be realistically looking at.

On the flip side how many park spaces are there in official car parks at VP? and how many on street are used? Is that more or less than is available around Odsal?

Usually the unrealistic fantasy new stadium talk doesn’t come until the summer, just shows how dead or season is already…

I’d be more interested if a couple of the young lads signing a professional contract got some games tbh, but instead Hughes will be ‘fair’ and give every senior player a chance to earn a contract when I’m sure most fans are happy to never see them in claret and amber again. Done with the season except the last game.

And I don't think they can be ruled out either, whatever the council decide to use Richard Dunns for they would need car parking for the whatever its used for. If you drive down Rooley Lane there is a left turn into a large car park bigger than anything on offer at Valley Parade or the surrounding area.
As with Parking Down at Valley Parade there are permit parking only but as both me and @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart have said there was no problem acconadating 20,000 plus on a Friday night fof the Bulls.
Good debate but we all know there won't be a stadium built for us or the Bulls to share if the City council are to be involved.

Baildon is typical a place where a number of City fans live . I get a lift from work to home so the rest is public transport in this hypothesis.
All hypothetical of course but it proves a point that alienating a lot of our fan base is a risk .
I do wish I had a copy of the season ticket postcode distribution I once saw. That’s why I feel more than safe in saying a very small minority of our fan base is South Bradford, compared to the area North/ East and slightly West of the City Centre. Remember it’s likely the direct opposite of Avenue/ Northern fan spread?
I wonder if the club will give us the data again?

How many City fans live in Raistrick ?
Note I don’t have any personal circumstances or a gripe due to where I live…… It’s North Norfolk ! . If the club would only release the postcode data again . They have done it before.

Back to the nitty gritty Dave, my last comment was re cost. Who is going to pay for this development of a ground holding circa 25k.
Odsal is worth a mint but not as a redevelopment. Of course then I’d support a Council funded development

I’ve no idea.Probably a lot less than live in Baildon
Replace Rastrick with Wyke,Oakenshaw,Scholes,Northowram etc.As @Bronco@Bronco says, if you have have issues getting to the ground due to personal circumstances then that applies wherever you live.
Hypothetically of course,if a new stadium was built in South Bradford do you think thousands of fans would refuse to go?
