It's an iconic landmark for Bradford Ian but the building isn't fit for any purpose now.

Any other City in the country would have turned Odsal into a fit a purpose stadium for possibly both teams ............. sadly your dealing with a train wreck for council who have managed to turn a once beautiful City into a absolute slum ...........

out of interest how many other councils have done this?

I know Huddersfield did but any others?

plus there is the obvious thing of a number of our fans not wanting to leave VP

I'd venture to say that most clubs fans are actively looking to leave their historic stadium. Give fans a modern, state of the stadium amd vibrant matchday experience and people soon move on. And newer generations have little to no attachment to VP.

Everything about this city is in decline, shrouded in incompetence

Non Football but Wakefield Council have pumped money into Trinity (Pussycats) Castleford and Featherstone to improve stadium facilities £6 million in total.

It isn't going to happen with the council constantly being who they are and having no interest in football. Added to that a move to Odsal would lose a large chunk of fanbase who come from predominantly the north west of the city, not the south east of the city.

Are there any figures/statistics to back up this claim that people will not go because of the location?
Have other clubs who have relocated lost a "large chunk of fanbase"?
I get the emotional attachment to VP (I wasn't there for the fire fortunately) but fully understand that some that were and those that lost loved ones may wish to hold on to the bond.
I have seen various figures posted on here about the costs associated with a move to a new stadium and quite frankly have no idea as to the accuracy of those figures but the idea must be up for consideration.

To be fair it never was a beautiful city for most of the people who lived here. It was a working class city with arguably the lowest life expectancy in the country for the majority of its inhabitants. Some nice Victoria architecture hidden amongst that but aside from it is what it is, a city borne from the industrial revolution.

And to throw an across the pond view in. The Tennessee Titans play in a 23 year old stadium owned by the local council and built at a cost of $290 million. Following the success of this year’s Super Bowl in L.A. the Titans, the council and the State are discussing building a new $2 BILLION stadium and pulling down the old one. Personally I can’t wait to get in there and drink a $12 tin of beer. (Oh, the $350 million “soccer” stadium opens this month but it only holds 30000).
