Apart from the ridiculously small amount of legroom in the lower part of the Main Stand (costly to fix) and the general state of the toilets (not so costly to fix), then I would prefer to stay at VP. Having been to bland, soulless stadiums on the periphery of commercial estates, then there is something aesthetically pleasing about older stadiums and their locations.

Usually the unrealistic fantasy new stadium talk doesn’t come until the summer, just shows how dead or season is already…

Any other City in the country would have turned Odsal into a fit a purpose stadium for possibly both teams ............. sadly your dealing with a train wreck for council who have managed to turn a once beautiful City into a absolute slum ...........

Are there any figures/statistics to back up this claim that people will not go because of the location?
Have other clubs who have relocated lost a "large chunk of fanbase"?
I get the emotional attachment to VP (I wasn't there for the fire fortunately) but fully understand that some that were and those that lost loved ones may wish to hold on to the bond.
I have seen various figures posted on here about the costs associated with a move to a new stadium and quite frankly have no idea as to the accuracy of those figures but the idea must be up for consideration.

To be fair it never was a beautiful city for most of the people who lived here. It was a working class city with arguably the lowest life expectancy in the country for the majority of its inhabitants. Some nice Victoria architecture hidden amongst that but aside from it is what it is, a city borne from the industrial revolution.

What the bloody hell is wrong with Valley Parade?

Why, does this absolute nonsensical debate keep arising...

You have certainly re defined the word exciting. Have you seen their league position and goal difference?

I'd rather spend time on North Parade and walk than Low Moor though

I went to every single one of those “away” home games and by a country mile Odsal was a s…hole beyond compare. Parking was garbage, I worked in Halifax at the time and lived in BD2, got stuck in an official car park , sorry old field , twice and drowned as a rat twice. Can we please drop this fantasy. It’s in the wrong location except for away fans, it’s a nightmare in bad weather, transport links from Town are dire and by train coming from anywhere except West of Bradford and even then it’s a hike! That’s without discussing the cost !

Odsal has had a stadium on its land since 1934, had a crowd of over 100,000 in days before the m62 was built and had a super League record crowd at the time of over 24,000 rugby League fans, most of whom enjoy a drink. Now i understand that as a stadium for football it's inadequate, although I watched rugby there for 20 odd years with no problem bar the cold weather of winter rubgy. And not once did I have a problem getting there or parking my car or getting there when I didn't have a car.

I've probably been to Odsal as many times as anyone on here kev, in the 80s when city played there, to watch Northern and then the Bulls. This is all hypothetical as a new stadium would never get built at Odsal and Bradford City will not move from Valley Parade. I can honestly say I've never had a problem in all those years ever getting to either ground. It's not like Odsal is the other side of the moon, it's at most 15 minutes away from VP in a car. I guarantee you if Odsal was the only viable alternative for a new stadium it would not put off 99% of fans going because of its location. I found the match day experience better at Odsal during the Bulls days too, drinking establishments a short walk away in Wibsey and down Manchester Road and more choice of food in the stadium. Let's not kid ourselves here, Valley Parade is in a right shit hole of an area.

I think some fans see the likes of Brighton, Swansea and to a lesser extent Rotherham and see how their fortunes improved after a shiny new stadium. Ignoring of course that the main reason their fortunes improved were the men behind the stadiums Tony Bloom, Huw Jenkins and Tony Stewart respectively. And the fact they all played at stadiums far far worse than VP beforehand. If only our owner was as easy to change as the stadium…

I know the money didn’t come out of their pockets, as rich as Tony Bloom is the Amex would have done serious damage to his wealth. That was my point, it’s the owners leadership that helped the clubs rise not a shiny new stadium, note those talking about a new stadium on here haven’t expected Rupp to fund it. I like Dave don’t see why a new stadium keeps getting brought up, many other league clubs would love a stadium and fan base like ours. We have far bigger issues.

Valley Parade is perfectly adequate for the needs of Bradford City. When the time comes we will sign a new lease on the terms laid down by Gibb and the pension fund. I have heard he probably would be willing to sell but that would mean either Rupp or an outside investor either stumping up a large sum of cash or as a loan tied to the club. And because of our past no banking institute is gonna lend the club money.
Over the long term it would arguably be more beneficial to own the ground but the initial investment would have to come from somewhere and probably with help from public bodies.
