Apart from the ridiculously small amount of legroom in the lower part of the Main Stand (costly to fix) and the general state of the toilets (not so costly to fix), then I would prefer to stay at VP. Having been to bland, soulless stadiums on the periphery of commercial estates, then there is something aesthetically pleasing about older stadiums and their locations.

Absolutely right Rod. The only modern stadiums I have liked on my travels was MKD and Reading.

    No idea why!

Without trawling through the whole thread and just skimming is what my take on the stadium debate is many fans saying we can't leave VP etc and some saying a new stadium has to be an option, I get both arguments but realistically deep down I'm sure we all want to stay put at VP, but i think the ones calling for other options to VP really just want to put another realistic option out there which would provide us with leverage regarding the rental costs at VP, but if we just argue VP is the only option then Gibbs pension fund hold us to ransom.

Are there other options, I keep hearing this Bantam@{Lancs} from fellow fans but as yet no one has come up with an alternative and the costing of the move.

Correct I agree there currently doesn't seem to be any other realistic options, but I was trying to say is that shouldn't stop us looking into any possible alternatives which in turn would provide us with bargaining power in regards to the lease agreement of VP.

I think most would like an alternative but until we do have one costed etc and it actual comes down to discussing our future going forward with Mr Gibb I believe he has a very strong hand with regards the rent we pay, and unfortunately I believe Gordon Gibbs poker is the only game in town.

We don't have any assets to sell to fund a new stadium, and to get one a similar size to what we have now would surely be ridiculously expensive(?)

I can only imagine it happening as a council funded sports complex with Bulls, and for it to be used by the community, but Bradford Council won't ever back that

Ill say it again, why should the Bradford taxpayer fund such a venue UNLESS they do the right thing and sell tipping rights over 50 years.?

Valley Parade is perfectly adequate for the needs of Bradford City. When the time comes we will sign a new lease on the terms laid down by Gibb and the pension fund. I have heard he probably would be willing to sell but that would mean either Rupp or an outside investor either stumping up a large sum of cash or as a loan tied to the club. And because of our past no banking institute is gonna lend the club money.
Over the long term it would arguably be more beneficial to own the ground but the initial investment would have to come from somewhere and probably with help from public bodies.

Owning the ground would be great apart from not forgetting owners have sold it off to raise cash before and would again if in trouble

If either happened a new stadium or the purchase of Valley Parade it would be owned by Rupp and not Bradford City AFC just as many new stadia are.

There is no alternative to Valley Parade. The stadium is our home and will be more than adequate for our needs for decades to come. Just got to work out a way in the long term to get the costs down, realistically buying the ground is the best option and I've heard Gibb could be up for it in the future if the terms were right.
