Fair point, but far from 100% accurate.
Todays players are fed and bred as athletes, and the harder the clog, the shorter the career (simplistically put ).

I lost your point from your first response ............ So touche.
HAD you played the game at a serious level, you would have known instantly what I was talking about. You have failed on both counts.

How could I pick up that you were talking about injuries when you never mention anything injury related Ronnie? Not the first time you've blabbed a load of rubbish and back tracked is it? Remember the kits debate?

Been away from the forum over the weekend. I think Vaughan would be good for us. Quite interesting that we've signed Donaldson who i'd imagine won't want to be on the bench in LG 2. I assume Doyle will go if that's the case.

Dunno - I think Bowyer may adopt a 5-0-5 formation.

I think Doyle is expendable if Vaughan comes in, but if we go into the new season with Vaughan, Donaldson and Doyle as 3 of our strikers - then I would be very, very satisfied.

One thing we didn't have was options. Doyle was an automatic choice and clearly works better with a strike partner.

TBF, I don’t think anyone is moaning. There are a few of us that are not being as openly positive about having 2 older forwards at the club, especially when neither have been getting goals in recent seasons.

If I’m honest, I’d much prefer to sign a player who has been there and done it very recently. That said, those players come at a premium and would be very difficult to sign

Both players were playing 2 tiers above for the majority. If they were scoring goals at Championship level, they wouldn't be looking to sign for a League Two club.

    Vaughn and Donaldson upfront

Could be a better partnership than Hanson and Wells

I'm not sure he did at the time that I'd quoted his post.

Worrying signing, even for a L2 side. In the position BCFC find themselves in they should be steering well away from players like him.

We bought him in our Championship season and his effort and ability was awful. Considering he scored 24 goals in 37 games the season before he was a huge disappointment. Some 'fond' memories of him:
-Everton vs Sunderland (League Cup 3rd round): Sunderland sell out their away allocation despite struggling near the bottom of the Championship and it being a Wednesday night. Vaughan plays awful and has a first touch of a trampoline. Full time and we lose 3-0, we're used to it and weren't expecting much better so we're still singing in the stands at full time. A few players walk over and applaud the away fans. James Vaughan looks like he's doing the same. Instead he walks straight past the away fans and applauds the home fans to the left of us. Applauds the entire home end iirc and doesn't acknowledge his own travelling fans.
-Burton vs Sunderland (Championship): Vaughan scores 1 of his 2 goals in 23 games. A header iirc. Instead of celebrating he cups his ears to the sold out Sunderland away end.
-Tweeting something along the lines of 'Look who's a Championship player and who is a League One club:eyes:' after signing for Wigan. He tweeted this when Wigan were promoted and after he had already had a massive hand in our relegation. He ended up becoming a League One player himself a few months after when he signed for Portsmouth on loan.

We only had him for a few months but I can definitely say he's one of the most hated ex-safc players from recent years (and there's a hell of a lot to choose from).

We then sold him to Wigan in January and he scored 3 in 19 for them in League One. Wigan obviously got promoted. He then took to twitter to tweet about how he was in a higher league than us and mock our fans. A few months down the line after only scoring 2 in 19 for them in the Championship, he was loaned to Portsmouth and according to wiki got no goals there. He was rubbish every time I saw him play for them. He can't even make up for his shithousery when his effort is as minimal as it is.

His attitude stinks and so does his ability. An absolute first class tosser.

Interesting that as from the comments I've read from Wigan, Bury and Pompey fans is that his effort and work rate is top class.

I get that and for Donaldson, it’s not really just about his goals anyway. He brings more to the table than just scoring goals; although his record over his career is impressive.

But Vaughan had a purple patch at Bury and nothing since. I note you say he spent the majority of his time in the Championship, but that’s not entirely true. He spent the 2nd half of last season at Pompey and only started 2 games. Similar the season before when he loaned to wigan in January and only started 7 games (1/3rd of the possible). The fall isn’t as big as some are suggesting. He didn’t pull up any trees at either League1 club. In fact his L1 record is 27 goals in 67 games, and when factoring in that he got 24 of those in 40 at Bury, it doesn’t make great reading for a goalscorer
