    We are in advance talks with him deal close very close but still things to sort. Hopefully will be done early part of week.

    Donaldson & Vaughan up top in league 2? Plenty of goals

    Neither have scored many goals recently.

    What convinces you they will if they play for us?

    After last season's debacle I'd reserve judgement even if we signed Mo Salah to see if he turns up.

    Names mean little to me!

    Imagine if we signed Salah last season and just lumped the ball up to his head like we did with Doyle. Strikers graveyard is Valley Parade.

    Nicky Maynard is out of contract next month at Bury and would be a better signing. He scored 22 goals last season in league 2 and Plymouth may make a move for him if they sell Ladapo.

    Vaughan looks decent for this level.

    His last goal scoring season was a couple of years ago but I cannot remember the last striker we signed who had over 20 goals in one season let alone over 25.

    Good pedigree and has spent the last few seasons at championship or top end league one. No brainier of a signing for me.

    We even made Ogrady look Bab and when he went away he looked very good. Did we get Wilbrahim for a few games too?

    Our best most recent forward pairing was Hanson and Wells and we had some reasonably good wingers feeding them

    He struggled at MK Dons and Aberdeen recently, buy yes, he was excellent at this level last season, wouldnt mind him here at all

    Although MY Jury is still out, regarding our Defence, the 'Up front' options remain moreso. Even IF we secure Vaughan, whist retaining Doyle, and having Donaldson ........ I'm not convinced that this mix will be enough to get the goals to power City up the table. All will add guile and nous to the side - But in the clog of lge two, will that be enough, without pace ? I'm not knocking, yet also not fully supporting this, as yet. The proof will be in the pudding, as they say.
    For this reason, I'm thankful our pre-season looks more structured, as it will still leave the 'Loan Window' open for more recruits, should we need them.

    I would rather have the experienced likes of Vaughan and Donaldson next season to try and get promoted at the first attempt, than bringing in someone like George Miller, who had the pace, but he ran around like Bambi on ice, and was truly awful
